Default College and Pro Football: People Understand the differences?

I want to know if there are people that actually believe that a college team could beat an NFL team?

The whole reason Im posting this is I live in Georgia near the Alabama boarder. I would say 90% of the guys I work with are Bama fans. We had a discussion about pro and college football and they honestly believe that Alabama would beat any pro team in the NFL, weather it be the Falcons, the Patriots, or the Jaguars. I told them that the speed and the level of compition is far beyond the college level. My belief is the only chance that a good college has against a pro team is playing their practice squad even then I dont believe they would still win.

I disagree in some regards, there are plenty of "rokiies" who just came form college, and they do just as good as the pros, the only problem then in my mind is you would need a team full of them, unoikely? sure, not impossible

And even then, there ARE times IMO where they could win

there is not much diffidence when you get to the "good guys" becuse the good ones go to pros and tend to make names for them self's there was well, and of ocuse even then, no matter how much any sports deny it, the "pros" hardily ever have the best guys really

The best football player in the world is most likely not in the NFL, nor will he ever be, same gose for many of the "best".

If you could get a college All Star team together and play lets say the Jaguars and I believe they would put up 60 on them in the 1st half of the game. You put them against the New England Patriots and Tom Brady would pick that defense apart. Sure some transcend to the next level in their rookie years and this past year has been a rarity. I dont believe an amature team could best guys that are in the primes of their lives and get paid to play.

The thing is, I'm talking about the guys who COULD be paid to play, and are better then 90% of the pros

just becuse your a pro dont mean your better then those who are not.

These kids are not paid to play, but being paid dont mean your good.

As for picking their defense apart, it depends on what the team is, if the all star team has great defense there is no reason it cant match the level of an nfl team (that dont mean they will win)

The only advantage that is always going to be there is exsprince\ nerves but even that can be matched by talent form the college guys

Just becuse your in the NFL dose not mean your better then the guys in college, since many guys in college want to finish college and then go to NFL.

Nah, Bama would get beat up by NFL teams. First off there is a vast complexity difference. Then there's the match ups. NFL teams would exploit the weakest link almost every play. Bama has pretty damn good team speed and they play with a high level of intensity, but these levels can't really compare to the NFL.

Everyone is bigger, stronger, and faster as well as being smarter.

Anyone who thinks even a college all star team would be competitive with a pro caliber team needs to be admitted to a mental hospital for lunacy. Really, it's just blind homerism.

In the NFL, everyone is there because they pretty much dominated the college level. Every single player was good enough to compete with the superior athletes that play in the league. Not to mention that "college all stars" don't always translate into the professional ranks and you'd wind up with a Tim Tebow or Ken Dorsey here and there and everyone on Alabama SURELY isn't going to go pro. Even then, the top college guys bust all the time. Even the NFL busts were amazing in college and would likely walk all over them. We're talking college guys against proven NFL veterans for the most part? Please. As soon as I figured out that they were being serious, all I would've done is:

Any pro-team is an all-decade college all-star team, not much of a chance vs the worse teams in the pro's.

I thinll your wrong, I dont think being in the nfl in anywa means your better then teams in college, its very possible IMOfor a team in college to be just as good as any team in nfl, if they can get thr right pepole.

Nothing at all says that its impossible for a football team in college to be as good as most of the nfl teams

Thats not saying they would always win but its not like they have no chance what so ever, it is possible

more so if they play a team thats full of young guys it self

look at how many stars have come out lately form college in to the NFL

now what if all of those somehow got on the same team?

Most of those guys where good enough to get in the nfl, WHEN they where in college, so they are on nfl levels anyways, and they did not "flounder" in the nfl either, the ones I'm talking about "take over" teams quick, and show to be in the league of the best in the nfl, this is not cause they went to the nfl they where that good or close to it when they came to the nfl (they had stuff to learn sure, but just cause they dont know as much dont mean they cant win)

Even in the nfl, when you have a team that has older guys who are smarter, faster, and everything else, they still have lost to nfl teams who are younger

Not every starter on Alabama is an NFL level starter, so they have 17/24 eventual draft picks, those other players are going to get crushed because those players on NFL teams are that much better.

Of course a college team could beat an NFL team, it all comes down to how they perform on any given day. I'm not a big follower of American Football but it doesn't take a genius to figure out that if you put they top NFL team against the top college team, 9/10 the NFL team would win because they're more experienced, stronger and quicker than their college counter-parts.
