All fan bases are. You just happen to be in Toronto and get to see it every day. If you moved to any sports town you'd see whiners. Hell I can't even go to a Kentucky Wildcat forum because they make me sick with their whining and complaining.

For the most part, yeah. Tampa Bay Rays/Orlando Magic/Miami Hurricanes. The only sport in which I don't is the NFL; I'm a Carolina Panthers fan.

Re: Are you are fan of your home town team?

Without a doubt. And I'm not one of those fans who are only fans when their teams are winning. For example: I cheered for the Detroit Lions every game during our back-to-back 0-16 & 3-13 seasons and other previous horrible seasons. I cheered for the Detroit Tigers a several years ago when we lost over a 100 games and during the past several seasons when our very talented teams missed the playoffs every year (except last year). I cheered for my Detroit Pistons during the '03-'06 seasons when we beat the LA Lakers for the championship and also won 4 or 5 straight Eastern Conference Championships and I still cheer for them while they are currently rebuilding. And finally, I've never had a problem cheering for my dynastyrrific-Detroit Red Wings who've won 3 cups in the past 13-14 years, more than any team and also their 21 straight playoff appearances... a current record which will most likely never be broken.

I love all of my professional sports teams in Detroit: (fuck the Detroit Shock and the WNBA, sorry ladies)

Detroit Red Wings
Detroit Lions
Detroit Pistons
Detroit Tigers

And I can honestly say if we were to get an MLS professional soccer team, I'd learn about soccer so I could cheer for them.

Really no specific order except that I absolutely love my Detroit Lions & Red Wings. I'm also a big fan of the Tigers but since the baseball season lasts so long and there are so many games, I tend to cheer for them more during late-August, September, and October when it's getting closer to playoff time.

As you can see with my signatures, I'm also a big fan of certain teams/athletes from the big 4 sports organizations (NFL, NBA, NHL, & MLB) but mostly teams/athletes from the NFL, NHL, and MLB.

I cheer for NFL teams like: Atlanta Falcons, New England Patriots, Houston Texans, New York Giants, Oakland Raiders, and Cincinnati Bengals.

I cheer for NHL teams like: Toronto Maple Leafs, New York Islanders, Winnipeg Jets, and Dallas Stars.

I cheer for MLB teams like: Washington Nationals, Baltimore Orioles, Oakland Athletics, and Pittsburgh Pirates.

The one NBA team that I cheer for is the Sacramento Kings. They are loaded with young talent (IMO) guys like: Tyreke Evans, DeMarcus Cousins, Jimmer Fredette, Isiah Thomas Jr, Thomas Robinson, and Travis Outlaw.

Re: Are you are fan of your home town team?

The standard of teams in my home town is pretty poor but I'm a lifetime Coventry City football fan and Coventry Rugby fan and always keep an eye on how the speedway and ice hockey teams get on even though I don't follow the sports that closely.

I started following Coventry City after my dad and brother took me up there when I was 6 and have never thought about supporting anyone else although there are teams that I keep an eye out for and hope that they do well; York City and Liverpool being 2.

It's hard to support home town teams that don't exist I find. So no in most cases.

I do support Bath in the rugby though as I was born/live there.

Re: Are you are fan of your home town team?

In England, and in football, (I'm not sure if it's the same overseas,) we sometimes have 2 big football teams from the one city. I live less than a mile from both Goodison park and Anfield, but yes I support EVERTON and no I don't care about Liverpool. They are both my Home city teams but completely different.

It changes as it goes down though. I support Tranmere, Chester, Southport etc as it goes down the leagues.

There is nothing worse than growing up and knowing somebody who supports another team just because they win. It makes you furious. I play football with lads who are local now but grew up in London and the Midlands, so they support Spurs and Villa. Completely fine, but I also know lads who have moved from somewhere like Bristol and just supported Liverpool because they live here, it's nonsense. The thing that makes you furious though, ESPECIALLY in England, is when you're from Liverpool, or Leeds, or Bristol etc, and you know people who support Manchster United only because they're winning leagues. I had mates and cousins who have grew up in the same street as me, one cousin support United and in the past decade or so I have seen people support Arsenal and Chelsea. Just waiting for a Manchester City fan now.

I do also support all of my local teams in everything though, as well as rooting for a local lad in international duties.

Re: Are you are fan of your home town team?

To be honest, I think Americans are lucky to have American Football, Baseball, Hockey and Basketball at the least to support their local teams.

For us English, it's a football team and your closest rugby teams. Very rarely do you get a football team and a rugby team from the same place that are both successful enough to fill out stadia, which means that my local Rugby team could be Warrington, but they cover a lot of the North West rather than just being local.

There are local teams for all sports, but nothing even comes close to the popularity of football. Apart from football, cricket and Rugby, there's few team sports that are nationally popular over here. In fact, International cricket and Rugby is more popular than local teams.

I do wish we had more teams to go and see. You Americans are so lucky with your four teams and your really big burgers. *shakes fist*
