wait a minute, are you telling me there are leagues other than the premier league?
Yup, its not all full of glamour but a lot of the lower leagues truly bring out the very best in English football and support, some right characters you can get and its always great when banter can dominate games with neither team caught up in all the Premier League/Champions League drama. Some examples of FC:
(That is the epitome of English football IMO)
(500-600 for a pre season friendly in Germany from a League 7 club.)
(The famous Rochdale cup game I mentioned)
I was at the Rochdale/FCUM game you mentioned, Segunda. T'was my first ever pitch invasion.
Legit one of the best games I've ever been to, honestly didn't even mind missing the last train back to Manchester and having to search for a late night bus to Manchester City Centre and then legging it to Piccadilly to make the 25 past 1 train back to Chester by the skin of my teeth. Yup I was on the pitch as well by the end, quite the memorable evening. Pretty sure I fell down 3 rows when FC scored a 93rd minute winner.
Top notch post Segunda, I love lower league games, they are raw. I often go and watch Peterborough if City have a sunday or monday game. Regarding atmosphear, I'm afraid thats the way of the English game nowadays and will continue to be until the FA grow a pair and decide to introduce safe standing sections to Premier League grounds. Eastland's can be flat as fuck at times apart from the usual suspects in the South Stand / South-East corner but thats only about 4 blocks. I much prefer the aways where you get the more "hardcore" element travelling who love nothing more than to get on it with their mates, have a sing song and a laugh and enjoy the banter.
Yup aways are by far the better games for fans looking for atmosphere. Pretty sure every club in the Premier League bar maybe Swansea have a better away following than home support, and in the cases of United and Villa the difference in support is staggering.
Ah don't even get me onto safe standing, I've all but lost hope anything will ever come from that unless plans to introduce models in Scotland take effect and get people talking. Its a common sense solution that needs to happen but unfortunately the people who run the game have little in common with your average working class supporter, and only see things in an economical sense.
