Re: F1 2012 thread
Good race to start the season.
Button with a composed drive, deserved the win. Hamilton unlucky to not get second, two disastrous pit stops. Mercedes disappointed big time. Red Bull clearly up there with McLaren as teams to beat at the moment. Maldonado shouldn't be allowed in an F1 car again. What a drive from Alonso, definitely the driver of the day, especially considering how inept Massa looked in that car. Great to see Kimi come through and get 7th, hopefully we'll see him competing for podiums soon.

Re: F1 2012 thread
A good result for Ricciardo even if it required a little luck on that last lap.

Re: F1 2012 thread
Seb why shouldn't Maldonado ever be in a F1 car again?

Ran Grosjean off the track even after he yielded room, looked like having an accident a few times up against Alonso, and then has that big crash at the end. It was hyperbole, but still, a horrendous display of driving.
Wasn't impressed with him last season either tbh.

Re: F1 2012 thread
We have Alexander Wurz as a co-commentator on TV. He is very experienced, klowledgable and highly entertaining.
This season he also started mentoring Maldonado and over the course of the race he talked a lot about Maldonado's perfomance in different situations - good or bad.
Obviously a very disappointing ending.
Great race overall, enjoyed it a lot. Think it is going to be one hell of a season. Very competitive and lots of "big" names. Also some young guys, who want to establish their spot - it's gonna be great.

I agree, if he wasn't worth so much money to Williams he'd have been laughed out of Formula One by now.

Re: F1 2012 thread
Can see why people think Maldonado is terrible, he does make very silly mistakes and crashes. But, I'll give him a bit more time before drawing my judgment on him. He had a promising race today, except when ousting Grosjean off the track. Surprised he wasn't given a penalty. But, consistency is never there. Another thing on Maldonado, battered Senna over the weekend. Whether Maldonado is given the better car, thats a different story. But wouldn't surprise me if his sponsors had told Williams to give him all the best upgrades.
No surprise the Mclaren ran away with this race. Dominant qualifying. But the Red Bull was a bit closer than qualifying pace showed. They had a nice drive. Still sceptical on the Ferrari. Alonso's rivals had either crashed or fell behind, and Massa was terrible. Nico was a bit silly with the tyres, burned through them, and was left with nothing when every other car had that bit more. Wasn't helped by the Maldonado crash, think he was the one who took all the depris. Great for Kimi to score well on his return. The midcard racing this season will be fantastic. They all seem to be around the same pace.
Also, thought the BBC coverage was great. All they've seem to have done is taken out the dead air and made the show faster paced. Bring on Malaysia.

Maldonado
If there's one driver I enjoy seeing completely fail, it's him. The last lap was awesome (the 7th-11th battle). And I agree with Desecrated on the BBC coverage - shame Martin & Ted went to Sky, but the editing was great.

So pretty much what Lewis did nearly every race of last season. Should he not be driving either?

Re: F1 2012 thread
i enjoyed the BBC coverage i thought i'd miss brundle but i really didnt i thought the commentary moved up a notch without him. i was happy with ricciardo and felt sorry for maldonado he has improved since last season no matter what other people said yes he was there for the money but last year i classed him and senna on the same level and clearly this year maldonado has moved up a level. i was surprised on how easy button won by. he didnt run away but he controlled and wasnt in any danger of moving down to 2nd
