No. They are still the two best teams in the NHL and I expect that this time, the Pens will win the Cup.

Re: Official NHL 2008 Season Discussion Thread
Pens/Stars will be this year's Cup finals barring any sort of devastating injuries of course. The winner will be the Pens and Fleury will be the MVP.
I'll also go ahead and throw out a bold prediction that the Red Wings won't make it out of the second round of the playoffs. Early but hey, it's always fun to predict shit.
Finally, the MVP of the league will come from the Pens as well. My pick would be Malkin. Yeah, I'm a fucking homer but who cares. Iginla also has a strong chance to win the MVP.

I definitely don't think a whole lot has changed in the West, Detroit is definitely still the dominating force. The east is a little more open I think with Montreal and Pittsburgh out in front.

If Washington wins the division I can not see them not giving to Ovechkin again.

See I think it's the opposite actually. I do agree that the Pens and Montreal are the dominate forces in the East. However, I think the West is wide open actually. The Red Wings are...the Red Wings, Stars were a great team last year and added Avery, Flames are a very good team and added Cammalleri, Blackhawks did a major team make over, Ducks are still dangerous and so are the Sharks. Honestly, I could see any of those teams (minus maybe the Blackhawks) coming out of the West.
I see Malkin getting the MVP because I see him putting up big numbers once again and turning Staal into a stud like he did with Malone last year.

Colton Gilles!! He's a MONSTER!.
but seriously. I love him and wish he was on the Leafs lol. Think he might be in the AHL this year but I'd love to see him crack the Wild lineup.
And I scored tickets to the Leafs/Wings opener on thursday. Quite pumped

Re: Official NHL 2008 Season Discussion Thread
Bit more news for the day, both are from TSN.ca
Quote:
The Toronto Maple Leafs like Luke Schenn so much, they're going to keep him around a while longer.
General manager Cliff Fletcher told reporters on on Monday that their 2008 first-round selection will stay with the club for the start of the season.
Schenn, 18, was selected with the fifth overall pick in June. The Saskatoon native was a standout at training camp, scoring one goal and registering a plus-3 in seven games.
Schenn spent the past two seasons with the Western Hockey League's Kelowna Rockets. Last year, he scored seven goals and 28 points in 57 games.

Quote:
The Toronto Maple Leafs placed forward Mark Bell on waivers on Monday, while the Calgary Flames have put defencemen Anders Eriksson and Rhett Warrener and forward Jamie Lundmark on the waiver wire.
The Leafs acquired Bell two summers ago from the San Jose Sharks in a package that also included goaltender Vesa Toskala. In 35 games last season, he scored four goals and 10 points.
Eriksson, 33, played 61 games with Calgary last season, tallying 18 points. Warrener, who played four seasons with Calgary, was limited to 31 games last season because of leg and ankle injuries.
Lundmark, a first-round pick by the New York Rangers in the 1999 NHL Draft, was signed as a free agent by the Flames last summer and played last season with Lake Erie of the American Hockey League.

Re: Official NHL 2008 Season Discussion Thread
You knew Bell being waived was a matter of time.
