O’Neal nearing trade to Toronto for Ford
NEW YORK – After on-and-off again negotiations, the Indiana Pacers have agreed in principle to send six-time All-Star Jermaine O’Neal to the Toronto Raptors for point guard T.J. Ford and the 17th pick in Thursday’s NBA draft, a league executive said Wednesday.
After nearly completing the deal earlier in the week, Pacers and Raptors officials needed to exchange more medical information on O’Neal’s left knee and Ford’s neck before finding a comfort level with the trade. It is believed both sides now are comfortable making the deal, though the trade won’t be complete until both O’Neal and Ford pass their physicals.
Toronto also will send Rasho Nesterovic and another role player to match up with O’Neal’s salary. O’Neal is owed $44 million over the next two seasons. He played just 42 games for Indiana a year ago with a left knee injury. O’Neal has expressed a desire to leave the Pacers for a contender.

Re: Official NBA Offseason thread
^^^ Toronto is in a win-win situation here. They are letting go of TJ who has become the 2nd PG and a softie and Stephen A Smith's fave Rasho Nesterovic. So they almost didnt lose anything and if Jermaine stays healthy...they will be a force in the East. And if lets say he turns out getting hurt most of the time...his contract expires 2010 where his $22M could come in handy in maybe the best year of free agency ever.

The only thing I find wrong with the rap is that Shaq is being dishonest when he said he was only joking. Just be honest and say you hate Kobe. BTW, it has the greatest hook in the history of rap even if it sounds ridiculous.

Yeah I have to agree, Shaq should just step up and be a man and say he hates Kobe, instead of dening it.
I have to admit it though, thats the best rap song Shaq has ever produced.
O'neal and Bosh should be a good team but I dont think they're going to be a force like the celtics. I didnt like TJ and Im glad they got rid of him cause really when he played the craptors became worse. They should of just stook with Jose and have him start the game.

Re: Official NBA Offseason thread
Trade's all but official. It can't officially be announced until after July 6th for some reason, so the Raps are basically asking the Pacers who they want to draft with the 17th pick and picking him for them. From what i understand, the trade is gonna be
O'neal
possibly a player the Pacers pick later
for
TJ Ford
Rasho
Baston/Graham
whoever the Pacers want at 17.
If Jermaine stays healthy, awesome awesome awesome. If not, we have 22mil to spend on guys like Nash, T-Mac, Camby, Drik, to name a few lol.

O'Neal plus Chris Bosh equals a future for the Toronto Raptors.

Simmons and Yi? WTF? The only explanation I can get out of this is the Nets has they already given up on the season and wait until 2010 to make way for Jay-Z's big buddy Lebron. And bringing Yi closer to chinatown could probably bring in some ticket sales for the Nets... otherwise I dont have a clue where they are going. I guess if the Nets pick up Gallinari there will be an italian and chinese convention in the Izod Center.

And that's exactly what Vince Carter's saying, but if the Nets are dropping players to try and sign LeBron in 2010 then Carter might be the next out the door. If the Bucks don't win it this year or next with Jefferson and Redd then they'll be right back rebuilding but with less cap space then before and probably a new coach.
