Re: Official NBA Offseason thread
Hey all, Help is kinda needed. I am an avid basketball player here in the UK. I am 18 and play shooting guard or Swingman depending on who is in my team. I recently bought a Heat basketball top and since I support the Miami Dolphins I might as well support Miami Heat. So they are my team, Ive checked them out and they are not that bad. The season I believe starts in October. So can all you guys mainly HEAT fans, help me catch up on whats been happening with them

They won the NBA Championship in '06 (They had Shaquille O'Neal and James Posey who both greatly contributed that year, but who are now on different teams) over the Dallas Mavericks in 6 games. From then on they pretty much went downhill, but this year, Wade, Marion, and Beasley should bring them back to where they belong, in the playoffs.

Unfortunately they got the high pick they desired and got Michael Beasley with the 2nd pick in the draft. Now they're definitely a playoff contender in the east.
btw, nobody has any comments about my prediction post for next season? Took me a long time to type up.

Because you're incorrect?

I don't think I can make it any simpler for you. They've been bad for a FEW seasons. I started my explanation with that then told him how bad they've been for the past FEW seasons.
Understand?

I don't mean just the championship year. Few means more than one, and the year before the last one, they were clearly not as "awful" as you were making them out to be.

I would not have responded to you if not for that gorgeous image of the cheerleader.
The Heat is not that bad this year...actually if not for their injuries I think they would still have been in contention for playoffs. Obviously they need to start getting younger and putting the pieces left open by the veterans who left...
Shaq, Posey, GP and even Kapono are all gone...and I think J-Will will not come back....they got Beasley on SF but their is a competition on the PF spot by Haslem and Marion. With Marion not opting out his contract he will be gone next year...so Miami would probably get rid of him to get some help down low...which is very weak especially now with a towering combo of EAST contenders: Brand/Dalembert, O'Neal/Bosh, and Garnett/Perkins.
They also have a new coach Eric Spoelstra, who used to be an assistant and coach of Miami's D-League team. Aside from Beasley, Mario Chalmers is on of their rookies. Chalmers was famous for that 3 pt shot he made this year's NCAA finals to help Kansas win the title. And he is very impressive playing point in the summer league. Zo is contemplating for another comeback. There are also rumors that they are trying to be part of the Artest sweepstakes...and would probably send Marion in that deal.

Re: Official NBA Offseason thread
He Hate Me, I have just now seen your predictions and I would agree with most of them. My only thing I disagree with is the Blazers at 8th. I am a huge fan of them (obviously), but, well, they are a team that I have to watch the first few games to predict whether they can make it or not. Either they really surprise and have sort of a New Orleans run (not saying they will get a high seed when I say that by the way) or there youth and inexperience will show and they may fall short (how short I don't know). They also need to show they can stay healthy especially Oden. I still have the Clippers at the 8th seed currently, but they also need to show they can stay healthy and me thinks that Thornton and Gordon have to play huge in order for them to get there. I really don't feel as if the Warriors have a chance, however, they could surprise, I think the loss of Davis may show. I am not sold on Maggette making them a whole lot better.
Anyway, that was mainly my only disagreement. Although, I think you have the Kings rated a little low, I think they will be about what they were last year IMO, still decent, but not quite good enough to reach playoffs.

Re: Official NBA Offseason thread
Let me say this, (also by the way it was a .500 season not exactly a winning season, but I know what you mean), if we don't add more wins from last years record then it is a dissapointment in my eyes. However, I honestly think the playoffs may still be a stretch for this young team. Two key words come into play with this team and they are: Health and potential. They have to stay healthy to have a chance in the difficult West. Also, this team is based on potential. There are only two sure things and they are Roy and Aldridge. Oden I believe will be really good as long as he can stay healthy and Bayless while looks good in Summer League does not mean it will translate in the big leagues. Rudy Fernendez is projected to be good, but who knows? You could say I am predicting that to not get my hopes up, but I honestly feel as if they will have growing pains this season.
As I said if they don't add at least 5 wins or so from last years record then I feel the season is a dissapointment, however, if those 5 extra wins or so do not translate into playoffs I would not at all be dissapointed because that means we are still headed into the right direction. Obviously, I would love for them to get to the playoffs, but I just don't know at this point. I guess you could call me one of those depressing/downer fans, but I don't really care. That is honestly how I feel. Hopefully they prove me wrong. :P

Re: Official NBA Offseason thread
he hates me i read ur predictions and agree almost fully except for the raps 8th in the east? u really think they are going to finish that low or even out of the playoffs? they have solid startin 5 in jose, ap, either moon or bargs, bosh, o'neal. they also have some depth on the bench and a solid backup point guard in roko ukic comin over to play i believe they will finish around 6th in the east this year if they stay healthy
