Re: Official NBA Offseason thread
MESSAGE ALERT: Someone is inquiring for Zach Randolph!! And I guess you wont be surprised who it is...its the Clippers! Its still unknown who are they trying to give away...but the Knicks would be dumb enough not to even consider...I wish someone would take Curry as well...I dont care if the Knicks get some young rookies. Getting rid of the Knicks Fantastic 4 (Zach, Curry, Steph, James) would mean a good direction for rebuilding.

Sources: Nuggets agree to trade Camby to Clippers for second-round pick
The Los Angeles Clippers have agreed in principal on a trade with the Denver Nuggets to acquire center Marcus Camby as their replacement for Elton Brand, according to NBA front-office sources.
Sources told ESPN.com that the Clippers will only have to surrender a second-round pick to acquire Camby, who is being jettisoned by the Nuggets purely for payroll relief.

AI and Melo must be shaking their heads at this trade. I've heard reports that the Clippers and Nuggets are just trading picks in 2010 so they literally stole Camby from the Nuggets.

And the pick is conditional. If the Nuggets pick ahead of the Clippers, the Nuggest can opt not to get the pick. Which could mean they got Camby for nothing!
The Clippers is one of the few teams that have cap space that can absorb Camby's contract without giving up equal salary. Which is why they offered to get Randolph from the Knicks for almost the same deal. But Im with you guys on this, what in the hell are the Nuggets thinking?! They would have gotten at least a decent player like a good PG for Marcus...they are giving away defensive guys...Najera to Nets and now this?

LAS VEGAS -- The reigning NBA champions are about to lose their glue guy.
NBA front-office sources told ESPN.com on Wednesday that James Posey has agreed to a four-year deal with the New Orleans Hornets worth an estimated $25 million.
Because of luxury-tax concerns, Boston was reluctant to offer Posey, 31, more than a two-year deal in spite of his considerable contributions to the Celtics' first championship since 1986.

This isn't a huge loss but it's a key loss for the C's. Posey was a key piece off the bench for the C's. But they will survive. They will find somebody else.

Huge signing for NOH...these really helped solidify their contention in the West.
As for the Camby signing ...I just feel that something will happen from both the Nuggets and probably even the Clippers. Nuggets clearly dumped some salary to make way probably for some signing...maybe a Pistons trade of Wallace and Billups perhaps?
As for the Clippers, they did get a bargain deal but if you think about it...it doesnt really make a lot of sense. Clippers already have a center in Kaman and they would benefit more of getting a PF. Maybe Camby is going back to NY for a deal to get Randolph...now that would make some sense. I just think there is more to this trade than what it is right now.

Re: Official NBA Offseason thread
The Nugs wouldn't give Camby away "for free" unless they had another move lined up.
I know the rumors about Artest are as wild as they come, but I keep hearing Artest and Marion switching it up, with Kenny Thomas the money sucker being in there as well to balance the trade values. Another deal that I heard, which would be pretty cool, would be to send Artest and Thomas to LA, Odom to Miami (since Wade has said he'd like him back), and Marion to Sac. Unfortunately, that would mean one sick lineup for LA. If I had the choice I wouldn't trade Artest in the conference, and ESPECIALLY within the division.

Re: Official NBA Offseason thread
I saw where the trade of Camby saves the Nuggets 40 million dollars in taxes. In my mind if I was forking over an extra 40 million for a first round playoff loss, that isn't giving somebody away. I believe Nene can fill right in for Camby and they can save the 40 million in cash. I don't think Camby being a helluva of player in his own right would have gotten alot because of his contract. Everybody is saving money for later years.
