Re: Official NBA Offseason thread
Baron Davis officially signed with the Clippers. I guess he didn't back out of the deal. I will give him credit for staying with the deal.

Re: Official NBA Offseason thread
Smith or Okafor can't replace Brand. It's a huge loss for the Clippers.

Re: Official NBA Offseason thread
yeah, but I would rather take okafor or smith over paul davis.
PG - Davis
SG - Mobley
SF - Thornton
PF - Smith or Okafor
C - Kamen
a good starting line up, but looking at how tough the west is, they won't make it or barley.

Well... you know what...I kinda agree with Okafor but Smith may not be that bad. He has not been seriously injured, I understand Brand takes out the post-up game, but then again Kaman, Thornton and Davis are decent post-up players. Smith is a better shot blocker, younger and plays from outside going in...which will clear out some space for BD. Also they will clear some more cap space by not making a qualifying offer to Livingston...so they can sign a decent bench guy. But then again this is some considered the worst organization in sports so who knows what they'll do.

Re: Official NBA Offseason thread
They're restricted FA's though. Both teams should match offers.

From what I hear if Josh Smith goes for a certain amount (I forget it, i think it was like 50 or 60 mil) that it would really make the hawks think about whether or not they would match.

Hawks would match up to $70 million. Anything above that is up in the air.

According to a league source, the Lakers already have contacted the Kings regarding Ron Artest and are believed to be offering forward Lamar Odom. As of Tuesday evening, the Kings had not returned the call. They are expected to insist on forward Kenny Thomas and his $18 million of remaining salary (over two seasons) being included in that potential trade.
|
Here we go... I was hoping the Knicks can get one of those guys...and frankly, I think using Marbury's expiring contract with David Lee or Malik Rose should attract some teams. Losing Steph's 20M and Rose 7.6M next year will make the Kings a major player in the market. But that's wishful thinking....I just cant see Lamar playing for the Lakers next year.

http://msn.foxsports.com/nba/story/8...on-1-year-deal
Quote:
The Boston Celtics have reached a one-year deal with former lottery pick Patrick O'Bryant.
O'Bryant was drafted ninth overall in the 2006 draft by the Golden State Warriors, but averaged 1.7 points and 1.3 rebounds in two seasons.
The Celtics, who hold a club option for a second season, will likely lose veteran big man P.J. Brown, and O'Bryant is worth the risk at minimum salary.
O'Bryant also fielded interest from Miami, Indiana and Minnesota.
|
I have no problem with this move. It's a low risk, possible high reward deal with O'Bryant. He is a center, still young and the C's needed another center to back up Perk. I prefer Anderson from the Hornets but this is better than nothing.
