Italian club AC Milan say Arsenal's valuation of Togo striker Emmanuel Adebayor is too high and have ruled themselves out of signing the player.

The 24-year-old had been named as Milan's main target for next season.

AC Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani said: "The request for £35.8m by Arsenal is an impossible request."

On Friday Adebayor had appeared to send out mixed messages when he went back on an initial claim that he was staying in England with Arsenal.

The BBC's African Footballer of the Year said: "The most important thing for me is to keep on enjoying my football. I'm staying at Arsenal."

But later he then added: "We will have to meet with the manager [Arsene Wenger] before anything can be decided.

"But, as you know better than anyone, a lot of teams want me to play for them."

He's not even worth half that, really not sure why Milan were that desperate to sign him in the first place.

He was class when he was on form and i don't think anyone could argue with that. But he was so inconsistent it's almost funny. TBH he is worth probably around £18 - £20mill but not a penny more than that.

It has been just reported that Barcelona have increased their offer for Arsenal striker Emanuel Adebayor to £30million, and Arsenal have decided to accept it.

Arsene Wenger has got tired of the the strikers changing attitude from day-to-day, and has no intention of breaking the clubs wage structure to meet the players demands.

The respected English newspaper the Guardian states that the move will now only depend on how quickly Wenger can find Adebayor's replacement, with Blackburn's Santa Cruz expected to be their Number One target.

Barcelona are keen to announce the deal as soon as possible as the club presidential elections are imminent and he needs a big-name signing to appease the supporters, who have been becoming disillusuioned,

After making the rash decision to sell Samuel Eto'o the supporters need to know that there will be an equal striker in place to replace him before the season starts in August, and are becoming impatient.

The agent of Diego Cavalieri has claimed the Palmeiras goalkeeper is close to joining Liverpool.

The Brazilian shot-stopper, 26, has made over 100 appearances for Palmeiras since beginning his professional career in 2002.

It now appears he could be on his way to the Premier League with Rafa Benitez looking to bring in cover for Jose Reina.

According to Cavalieri's representative Juninho Parmigiani, the player is to travel to England this weekend to finalise the deal.

Juninho told gazetaesportiva.net: "Palmeiras' board released Diego to negotiate with Liverpool and we are going to fly in to finalise the last details.

"We still cannot say that everything is closed because there are some things between Liverpool and Palmeiras and other details in the contract.

"I believe everything is going to be resolved this weekend.

"If everything goes as it was agreed, he is going to sign the contract."
