He gets overated. This coming from a guy who talks about ' Super ' Anderson all the time when the player is struggling to get picked ahead of the likes of John O'shea and Darren Flecther
Anyway, I haven't see the new signing for Liverpool alot but the time i did see him, he looked decent. Not brilliant but decent and TBH i would be surprised if he starts for Liverpool straight away. I can see him being a player Rafa buys but we don't here alot of him!

Carra is a decent player, not sure I ever said he wasn't, but that doesn't mean I have to like him. Your whole comment about all the best defenders being cheats and so on, is frankly bizarre and laughable also.
Yes Carra gets overrated obviously, and I'll be damned if I'm going to explain the SUPER ANDERSON stuff again. The rest of what you said about him is also not worth me bothering with.

Re: Official Rumours/Gossip/Transfers/Pre-Season Discussion Thread 08/09
Carra isn't dirty at all really. He's passionate so he shouts, and he had a bad start of the season, and due to that alot of his tackling, which was off par, looked "dirty".
Second half he was back to his old self and didn't really have any dirty moments that I can recall.
As for being past his best, well, his best came when he was moved to CB in 2004, and he hasn't exactly got much worse since then. Yeah he's older, and sometimes gets outshone by the likes of Skrtel and Agger, but he's still massive in our defense.

The shouting doesn't enter my mind as being dirty, unless he's being racist like Terry, which I doubt.

You watch any Italian defender RM. The so called best defenders in the world. Every single one of them are dirty in their own way.
Anyway

The midfield magician has been impressive for Roma this season and he raised a few eyebrows at the Bernabeu when he played against Los Merengues in the Champions League.
The Italian international has been linked with several clubs and recently the Giallorossi were reported to have turned down a €14m offer from Juventus.
The player himself had recently stated that he does not want to leave Roma but Calderon's cash may prove hard to resist.
Reports in Italy claim that Calderon is ready to try and tempt Roma with a mega money deal worth €30m for the brilliant playmaker.
It is likely that Roma will reject any potential offer from Real as the club are hoping to keep all their prized assets as they look to mount a serious assault in both Europe and in Serie A next season.
Calderon recently revealed that he had a €100m transfer kitty to spend. Real's primary target is Manchester United winger Ronaldo but if this fails then Aquilani will be their alternative.

I don't know if he is worth that in all honesty!

That would be an absolutely immense defence.

The signing of Voronin pretty much sums up your first statement mate.
I think Rafa likes his Fullbacks to be more defense minded, which is why he is going for less forward-thinking guys like Degen for Rafinha. However, I've never seen Degen or heard of him before this so he's got alot to prove but at the same time no big price-tag holding him down.

If anything Degen is a better attacker than defender.

Aquilani would be well worth that, he is brimming with potential and has as good a long range shot as anyone in Europe.

That is simply not true. Maybe to an extent in the UK, like the Great Kevin Muscat , but elsewhere its not true.
The Italian your referring to is obviously Materazzi, but otherwise Nesta, Cannavaro, Baresi, Maldini and all their other legendary defenders have hardly been dirty. Also, the funny thing is Materazzi isn't even a great defender.
Ayala was another dirty bastard, but in fairness he has to be as he's so meagre. He's been one of my long standing favourites too. He never got the recognition he deserved I feel.

Maldini and such are dirty too their own extent. Like when they need too they will kick you sneakily and can do it well without getting caught. For e.g. in the champions league. An occasion were Maldini and Walcott were going at each other and Maldini was able to kick Walcott in the box, fall himself and win a free kick
