Re: 2008 NBA Playoffs Discussion Thread
Yeah, was both...the Spurs had no answer for Kobe, and then the Spurs just kind of broke down...much like a tooth in Coke. >_>

I also switched the channel when it was 65-45. I caught the ending of the game, but how the hell did San Antonio blow it? I think the Lakers take Game 2.

Re: 2008 NBA Playoffs Discussion Thread
For those who turned the channel when it was 45-65....basically Kobe got good, which lead to all his teammates playing harder, they rebounded more, made their shots, and the Spurs crumbled, Ginobli completely sucked, and Parker and Duncan were worthless in the 4th quarter.
Or to put it a better way, imagine the Spurs team and lead as an egg, now imagine the Lakers in the second half as a big ass sledgehammer that slammed the egg into nothingness.

Re: 2008 NBA Playoffs Discussion Thread
I think the Spurs just got old and tired in the 4th quarter. There is no way that the Spurs of a couple of years ago would let a 20 point lead go. And you know they didn't want to go into overtime because Parker had a chance to tie and instead passed for a 3. The Spurs knew they wouldn't be able to win overtime with the way they were playing in the 4th.

Re: 2008 NBA Playoffs Discussion Thread
The Spurs just have no bench. You can't count on Finley, Brent Barry and Horry on a regular basis anymore. Finley and Horry came up huge in game 7 against NO with those threes and thats why they finally won in New Orleans.
We've got no answer for Duncan but at the same time they have none for Kobe. Comes down to depth and Lakers have the edge.
Really the same story as the games in New Orleans. But I thought the Spurs would hang on because I couldn't see them blowing that big of a lead. But another important factor was the refs were pretty stingy with calling the fouls. Totally unlike our series with the Jazz. If that had been in the case it would have been in the Spurs favor with that big of a lead.
The more up tempo the better. I don't think Spurs can handle it in a 7 game series.

Re: 2008 NBA Playoffs Discussion Thread
Spurs just went on one of their infamous scoring droughts and never broke out.
It happens regularly, although they overcome it sometimes.

Wow, a 20 point comeback over the last 18 minutes. VERY impressive stuff from LA. I wouldn't be surprised if this game did to the Spurs what game 1 in the first round did to the Suns.

Both series will end in 7 with the Celts and Lakers coming out on top.
