Re: 2008 NBA Playoffs Discussion Thread
Two ridiculous calls in the last min or so in the Celtics game was horrible. Pierce's charge was horrible but so was Smith's no call off the inbounds. Celtics could have won the game but a 4 point shift isn't something easy to get over that late in the game. LeBron was hitting some shots he needed to be too. Game 7 the Celtics should win. I was confident that they would win a road game but I think I have officially given up hope on them winning a road game.

Yeah, the Pierce charge was a bad call. LeBron was still moving when they called the foul. But don't forget the Ray Allen play at the end where he got fouled. When West made the block, the ball hit the backboard first, which should have been goaltending. So they blew a call right there. I expect them to win Game 7, but I wouldn't be shocked if the Cavs win. It can go either way.

~ The Celtics had EVERY chance to win that game. You can blame the refs if you like, but if you can't manage to score 75 POINTS, then you didn't deserve to win anyway.
~ Kobe can talk all the shit he wants. When you are substantially better than EVERYONE in the league, talk away. Yes, I said appreciably. As in 'considerably'. Yes, appreciably better than Lebron, Wade, and anybody else you'd like to throw into the conversation.

Lakers finish the Jazz in Utah, you gotta love it So now LA await winner of Hornets/Spurs in the WCF and Pistons await Celts/Cavs in the ECF.
Predictions: Lakers/Hornets and Celts/Pistons.
Finals: Lakers/Celtics which should be sick.

Yay! Lakers are going to the WCF! It's going to be tough though, both Hornets and Spurs are great teams. Also, about the Kobe thing, it's perfectly fine to be cocky and show off some swagger just as long as you can back it up on the court (which is what Kobe does).

Re: 2008 NBA Playoffs Discussion Thread
Jazz sure made it interesting. Can't remember the last time a team's five consecutive makes were all three pointers. What used the be the Lakers achilles heel in the Shaq era ended up being their biggest boost in the free throw shooting.
Gasol and Odom did an outstanding defensive job shutting down Utah's front line. Particularly on Carlos Boozer for the duration of the series. His only real good game was in game 3.
Not that he showed any real ill effects, but it'll be great for Kobe to rest that back for 4 days.

Not sure why but I sense a great amount of animosity from you for Kobe...maybe you're a Jazz fan or one of the Kobe haters. Not sure if you have the mic capability like TNT "wired" where you hear what Kobe says every shot... so before coming up with something...make sure you can back it up.
I would have agreed with you if you talked about Kobe in his first years, but he has matured a lot and his behavior this season is the best that I've seen of him.
Talk is cheap, the key thing is if you can back it up. KObe can talk smack whenever he wants as long as his hitting those crucial shots in the end. Every great player/closer does that...Reggie Miller (Spike Lee), Magic vs Isiah, and of course MJ...closing his eyes on the FT line talking to Mutombo.
Those 3 guys you mentioned are still young...and as good as they are right now, they are not close to perfecting their craft...so they dont have the confidence yet to do it...but I guarantee you, once that time comes...they will.
But since you like comparing players... at least Kobe never referred to himself as a third person like a "Lebron James Team", Melo doesnt talk smack...because he just likes to punch people to shut them up and Wade..well he's always injured and he's team is not any good...so he better shut it.

Duncan and Lebron are both better players than Kobe IMO. He has won exactly 2 playoff series without Shaq.

His behavior wasn't exactly that great this year. He lead the league in teachnical fouls, called out Andrew Bynum, and demanded a trade this year.
I don't like Kobe. He is a complainer and a bitch. He ran Shaq out of town, and demanded a trade then didn't then demanded one again all in one day. He is a great player, and yes everyone talks smack, but he hasn't won anything without Shaq. He is the only guy I see saying something or shaking his head after almost every fkn shot he hits. Yesterday he hit a three and is shaking his head jawing with Ronnie Brewer. Thats why you see Kobe the subject of so many cheap shots.
