Re: 2008 NBA Playoffs Discussion Thread
The Celtics at least kept it close for most of the night. They NEED to win Game 5 in Boston, and they still might be able to end this series in 6.

Mike D'Antoni isn't expected to waste time before remolding the Knicks in his image -- sources indicate that he will try to trade for Suns players Leandro Barbosa and Boris Diaw, possibly using Stephon Marbury's contract to get the deal done.

I dont agree 100% of this strategy although I would like to get rid of starbury any which way the knicks can and we know how those 2 guys benefit from Mike's system. But I think with that huge payroll of Stephon, the Knicks could get unhappy superstars waiting to get traded. There is no need to rush signing these 2, there are a lot of superstars opting out who's receiving at least $3M less. i.e. Baron Davis, Shawn Marion or even with Antawn Jamison. The key here is they have to find a team who's willing to take a huge contract this year but losing a big cap the following year.
If Im Mike, I will take more time and get a good look what's out there...you dont want this to be another Shaq situation.

Re: 2008 NBA Playoffs Discussion Thread
I don't even know what to say about the Celtics. It seems impossible for them to be as good as they are at home but as terrible as they are on the road. They had their chance to win last night but they didn't get KG the ball enough in the 2nd half and why Doc had PJ Brown(even though he was 4-4 FG) and Big Baby on the floor with 7:50 left shocked me. Powe should have been on the floor at least instead of Davis. They need to get this burden off their backs and win game 6 in Cleveland.

Detroit's in the Eastern Conference finals for the 6th straight time? Pretty insane. I don't see them beating Cleveland or Boston though.

I'd love to see the Cavs knock off the Celts but its unlikely with the Celts having the next 2 at home. Like Headliner said unless they can win in Detroit they're going to have a very hard time competing with them for Conference Champs.

Re: 2008 NBA Playoffs Discussion Thread
Orlando's poise was embarrassing during stretches.
I thought Boston would rep the East in the Finals but after struggling with the Hawks and King James, while Detroit ran through Orlando (winning two games without Billups), they're the team to beat.

Re: 2008 NBA Playoffs Discussion Thread
Detroit's main problem is they take for granted they can beat anybody and by the team they realize what's going on they're out of the playoffs. If Detroit is focused on the next series and doesn't take things for granted they could beat the Cavs or the Celtics in 6. They're a veteran team with a good bench and the confidence that they can win on the road without maybe their best player.

Re: 2008 NBA Playoffs Discussion Thread
Right now, the Celtics don't even deserve to win this series, let alone the NBA title. Seriously, I have never seen a team that kicks ass when they are at home but get their asses kicked when they are on the road. The Big 3 need to step up their games on the road. Right now, they don't deserve to win this series.

Well if you're go to guy is the 3rd best player on your team, its really tough to close any games. I wont take away anything from Hedo,he had a great season but we all know he cant take over games like the rest of the superstars that are left in the playoffs.
Another thing is they need to find a good legitimate PG in the offseason... Nelson, Arroyo and Dooling wont cut it. They are all offensive minded PGs. We can see how a good PG can take control of the game especially with a young squad in New Orleans. Youth is not a disadvantage anymore, but they have to find a leader.
