Yeah, Pierce had one hell of series and does deserve it more than Allen. But either Pierce or Allen would have been good choices for MVP.

What a game by the Celtics. I don't regret one bit being a fan of them since last year.

Re: 2008 NBA Playoffs Discussion Thread
Lakers got absolutely owned, so happy right now that the C's got the job done, all those guys deserved it.
As a longtime Celtics fan, I really didn't ever expect this to happen for so many years and here it is. Very emotional for all those guys, you can tell Doc is holding back even though it looks like he wants to just cry.
Awesome performance by the C's, undoubtedly they were the much better team. This whole thing just screams redemption for KG, Doc, and Pierce specifically, to come from where they were last year and for Doc to lose his father this year and everything involved. It's just a tremendous story of redemption.
Also, Jemele Hill is probably super pissed right now.

I understand the difficulty of fighting off screens, but how many times was Ray Allen open on the baseline in the game?!

Re: 2008 NBA Playoffs Discussion Thread
It's been a great season for the Lakers nobody expected them to be here even especially in the Western Conference though they came up short hanging with the Celtics with the loss of Bynum shows me something. They underachieved a lot. I can't complain much because no matter what Kobe still is the MVP of the league. Ask for the Celtics, I have to give it to Paul Pierce being a true and loyal player for his club while other guys had the advantage of being put in a good situation, he was there through everything. He is the definition of a committed player and should be up there with other Celtic greats (Garnett you're still an overrated player even with a title).

Re: 2008 NBA Playoffs Discussion Thread
Awesome moment. Been waiting 8 years for this moment and now that it finally has come it couldn't have come at a better time. Peirce, Allen, KG, Brown, Rivers, and company all deserved this so much words can't even explain it. They played their asses off all season long and it payed off. Hopefully they come back next year with the same intensity.
Gotta love it.

Fucking Boston.
Pats. Red Sox. Celtics.
They can fuck off, tbh.

Re: 2008 NBA Playoffs Discussion Thread
And I'm loving every minute of it, hey we had a long time coming tho for all of this to happen and now it's all happening at once.
This title makes 6 championships won in 6 1/2 years just between those 3 teams, pretty incredible stuff.

Re: 2008 NBA Playoffs Discussion Thread
What makes this championship victory a little bit better then any other one is how many people doubted the Celtics before this series, and now that they won there's nothing to do but sob like Kobe Bryant.

Re: 2008 NBA Playoffs Discussion Thread
I agree with that to a degree, hell they were being doubted even before the season started. People were saying they would finish like 6th or 7th in the East, and even with them being the best in the East they still were a underdog against the Lakers despite having homecourt and a better record.
Still think the 04 Red Sox title was the most meaningful, breaking the 86 year curse after being down 0-3 to the Yankees is a real tough one to top.
