Re: 2008 NBA Playoffs Discussion Thread
I doubt it. These kind of games get in your mind playing at home makes no difference especially after the spanking the opponent gives you. Then again Denver from what I have seen of these two games and the last few games in the season doesn't have a guy that will take over the game not Carmelo Anthony, not Allen Iverson (despite his 31 pts it made no difference), not Kenyon Martin (who as Reggie said played much better in game 1). The zone defense didn't work. Maybe they will try more double teamming and hope that Kobe doesn't have a good game. Also as Reggie Miller pointed out Nuggets threw up so many bricks it was pathetic, there was no setup in the posts, they lacked an incredible amount of assist. They basically for a big part of the game tried to shooting contest with the Lakers while the Lakers beat them at that and also beat them inside the lane. Denver's D is poor.
With this Lakers team and the shooters they got, and Gasol, I doubt Denver can come back. Ask for the Suns and Spurs, it's not over but the Suns have a hill to climb. I wouldn't call this a "Miami Heat" situation....Shaq is older and is in worse shape although he's surprisingly had a couple of good games. For Phoenix to pull this out, they'll need big numbers from everybody.
