Re: 2008 NBA Playoffs Discussion Thread
2 biggest plays were the Kobe strip on Pierce and KG missing those 2 free throws, if those go the other way the C's might've already been champs.

Depending on who is the high scorer in the game it could be Ray Allen as the MVP, Pierce did have that horrible game but if ends being the guy in Game six it's a lock.
With that if I'am the Lakers I put a bulls eye on Garnett and get him in foul trouble he's not playing well and he choked on a couple of critical free throws near the end. As I said so many times their lack of a post up game and deciding to make jump shots leads Boston right back into. I hate the way Gasol passes up shots right when he has the ball in the middle. At keast he and Odom did show up. Kobe well it rests in his hands now. If nobody shows on Tuesday, win or lose he needs to put his best game forward.

There were tons of bad calls both ways during the whole game, there just happened to be more against the Celtics in the final minute.
They really lost because of KG though, that un-clutch bastard.

Re: 2008 NBA Playoffs Discussion Thread
Maybe but you know in Boston things will be different like in GM2. However, ignoring the calls it comes down to playing. Right now even though the Lakers won, they aren't playing better but they can improve. . Everything evens out eventually I guess Plus the Lakers were more aggressive during the end putting the ball inside. The Celtics did commit a lot of reach in fouls leading them to the penalty. The strip was hard to call and Pierce wasn't disputing the steal at all. Just happy the Celtics didn't win it in LA. All the calls don't excuse the fact that Garnett has been average in this series and can't make clutch shots for a win.

I'd rather see the Celtics win it in Boston anyways.

Damn right. I am a huge Celtic fan but I cannot stand that overrated jump shooter. He has the worst low post moves I have ever seen. Only shot he can get is a fall away jumper or a 18 foot jumper off penetration.

He has great low post moves. I just don't understand why he never uses any of them.

The refs were terrible in that game. The Lakers beat up the Celtics last night and it was very few calls, mainly down the stretch during Boston's comeback and after. Combine that with KG's missed free throws and you have a recipe for failure.

Re: 2008 NBA Playoffs Discussion Thread
Lakers may have won it...but they are still being matched up well by the Celtics. I dont know why they dont use the small lineup with Pau, Kobe, Vlad, Sasha and Fish when they had success with it in making a comeback in Game 2. That would match up well with the Celtics small lineup and open up the lane for KObe to penetrate. The C's are using a box 1 defense because they know that Odom and Pau wont shoot from the perimeter.
Id say keep playing Mihm...he's a big body that can play Powe off the bench and a better rebounder. The reason why he got into foul trouble is because OVERRATED Walton was getting smoked by Pierce.
Game 6 is tricky because of the one day rest...and with a 6 hour flight that would feel even less...so I will not be surprised if LA steals game 6. I want a game 7 anyway.

Re: 2008 NBA Playoffs Discussion Thread
I'm not going to complain about the refs, could there have been some better calls? Sure, still the Celtics had their chance to win and didn't. Time to move on and win game 6, they can not give LA a chance at a game 7 because then my bet would be Kobe taking over and possibly winning and that's from a Celtics fan.
KG needs to stop picking up stupid fouls, when he has to sit because of his foul trouble the C's are going to struggle really bad now if Perk isn't able to play, even if he's having a terrible offensive game. A positive way to look at KG in this series so far is he's had a double-double every game I think, if not ever game almost every game, and who would want that out of one of their big men even if it is a let down by KG's standards.

Re: 2008 NBA Playoffs Discussion Thread
Glen Davis should see more playing time if Perk is out IMO.
