Scott Skiles has agreed to a four-year, fully guaranteed contract to be the new head coach of the Milwaukee Bucks.

A league source confirmed the hiring of Skiles, which was first reported by the New York Post, and said Skiles was the only candidate to be formally interviewed by the team.

The Bucks plan to introduce Skiles at a 5 p.m. ET news conference, The Associated Press reports.

The four-year commitment reflects the desire of ownership to have some coaching stability following the short tenures of Terry Porter, Terry Stotts and Larry Krystkowiak since the departure of coach George Karl following the 2002-03 season.

The Bucks fired Krystkowiak on Thursday, one day after finishing 26-56 in his one full season as coach.

The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel characterized Skiles' hiring as imminent, saying the team and coach were making significant progress in contract negotiations.

"The search is continuing. We're making progress and our goal, as stated before, is to react quickly," new Bucks general manager John Hammond told the newspaper Sunday, adding, "We will not discuss individual names of candidates at this time."

Hammond is attempting to mold the Bucks, one of the NBA's worst defensive teams, into a championship contender.

"The bottom line on this decision is that this is a results-driven league," Hammond said last week, when Krystkowiak's firing was announced. "Sometimes it comes down to wins and losses. Once again, the man that Larry was and the effort he put forth had little to do with the decision."

Skiles was fired by the Chicago Bulls last December after telling management he thought the team needed "a new voice." He was 165-172 during his time in Chicago, which began in November 2003 when he replaced Bill Cartwright.

The Bucks drafted Skiles in the first round of the 1986 draft, but he played only 13 games that season because of a neck injury. He played 10 seasons in the NBA.

Chris Sheridan covers the NBA for ESPN.com. Information from The Associated Press was used in this report.
Skiles is a good NBA head coach. He has had some success in the NBA. The Bucks have some good young players to bulid on. It's a good move for the Bucks.

Unless Wizards make a comeback, I think its safe to say Cavs won and are up 2-0

The first quarter is what killed them. I mean they werent sound defensively after that, but they played a lot better and made what could have been a blowout into a somewhat close game. I think if they can get off to a better start they'll be able to win tomorrow night. Then winning both at home would be ideal, but theyd be okay going back to Orlando tied 2-2 i think.

I'm sure the Wizards would be able to win the series or atleast put up a decent fight if Gilbert Arenas was 100%, though I guess you can say the same for LeBron and Boobie.

Even if Arenas was at 100% it wouldn't make up for his poor shot selection and the lack of defense the Wizards played. Wonder if Arenas will talk about this on his blog?

Edit: Looks like Utah will be winning their series with the Rockets. The only question left is whether or not Houston can steal a game at home or will it be a Utah sweep? McGrady did everything he could to keep Houston in the game with the almost triple-double, but he just looked tired in the 4th quarter.

The best moments in CZW for 2008.
1. Eddie Kingston coming back twice.
2. Chuck Taylor stealing a kid's piece of pizza.
3. Zandig's booking. It's so bad it's great.
