Schilling's season is over and a good chance his career too. Terrible news I think for the Sox, he can always get it done in the playoffs. It was a risk to resign him after last season and it didn't pay off.

He still has a outside chance of pitching in the major leagues but it will be at the end of next season. And it won't be the for the Sox's. If his career is over, he did his job when he came to Boston. He helped them win two world titles. I think that right now he is a borderline HOF player.

Daisuke got rocked yesterday in his 1st start back after being on the DL. Only an inning pitched, 7 ER's on 6 hits. I'm pretty sure he'll bounce back in his next start. Hopefully the Sox can get the win today and avoid a 3 game sweep.

With Daisuke getting rocked this should mean Cliff Lee or Joe Saunders gets the nod as the starting AL pitcher. Joe has more wins but Cliff has the lower ERA.

Maybe CC sabathia should enter the home run derby? Anybody see that bomb he hit? That was a tape measure shot. Thats why I hope he goes to the NL. He's as good a hitter as Micah Owings or Zambrano.

He was rusty in his first start in a few weeks. It happens. I expect him to bounce back and pitch a solid game next time out.

Am I the only one that can't stand the ESPN announcers? It may be because I am a diehard Cubs fan and I am so used to the guys on the radio/TV. But the guys on ESPN are so bland and generic it is ridiculous.

"The Cubs have won the World Series twice in their history ... but they haven't won since 1908!"

, imo.

"Vasquez hasn't batted much because in the AL ... they have the designated hitter."

For the benefit of those who have never heard of baseball...

Anyway, good to see that the sweep of the Sux is nearly complete.

Yeah I don't like the Sunday Night Baseball game announcers. They are pretty annoying with stupid facts like you mentioned, and they use whatever chance they get to flame the Mets.

Its good for the Cubs to win this series. They forget what it is like to win. They should have these series in September, that way it would mean something.

Utley for n.l mvp & Josh Hamilton for a.l mvp i dont care if the rangers suck Hamilton is having a great year.

Man the Whit Sox are surprising the hell out of me Dye and Quieten are having all-star years and Crede, Thome, and Swisher are having a good year if their pitching holds up they can make a playoff run for sure.

Im a Yankees fan but i kind of want to see the Rays in the playoffs.

In this case you need the Yankees to win the division, and the Rays to win the wildcard. That way you get the Yankees and Rays in the playoffs, and not Boston.

Forget what it's like to win? Best record in the majors, imo.

Also, these series with the Sox mean a lot ... whichever team loses more usually takes a while to recover. Playoffs are in October ... not September.
