It's only his first start in the majors. If he doesn't improve 3 starts from now, then I'd worry/panic. And this is coming from a Red Sox fan.

Pedro pitched 6 solid innings, and got the W. Two of the most important stats are that he pitched 109 pitches, and his fastball topped out at around 93-94.

Joba only pitched 2 1/3 innings, you can not get a fair reading off a pitcher changing from the set up role to being a starter in his first start only throwing 62 pitched and pitching just 2 1/3 innings. The 4 walks is the only real problem I saw with his outing but that can easily be fix/worked on. Other than that, everything will come in time.

Pedro coming back and getting a win is nice, I was glad when he left Boston because of all his problems but I do like seeing him pitch well.

Give Joba a couple of starts before you judge on his perfomance. It's going to take him a while for him to get back into the starters role. He hasn't been a starter I think since college. He will be fine.

He career might be over. At his age and with the surgery, he might have trouble coming back. If he does come back, he will be in the bullpen. If his career is over, he will go into the HOF.

Come on people, don't get so down on Joba's first start. It was aweful, sure but that's just the first start of the guy's MLB career. It'll pick up. He has too much talent for it not to.

and lol.. The Phillies fans booed their own pitcher again tonight for walking Griffey in a pinch hit at bat... I love Philly fans.

Volquez with another big win tonight pitching 7 innings of shut out baseball. The bullpen does the rest after another damn good rookie gets two doubles and two runs batted in. Reds win 2-0.

Bobby Jenks blew a save against the KC Royals. Little 'duck-snorts' were hit endlessly, apparently. Sucks but at least we didn't lose the lead in the 9th.

Pedro is a consummate professional big league pitcher. If there's anybody that knows how to pitch properly, it's Pedro. Regardless of how high the radar gun hits velocity wise, you can always count on a reasonable score when Pedro leaves the game. On top of that, most hitters are still intimidated shitless of the guy.
