They will be in the race until the end. They really are a good ballclub. They finally have some good pitching right now and they have very good lineup. And the sad part is that they don't have fans to support them right now. I think they had about 12,000 people a few nights ago.

He is going to be a star in this league. The Reds must be pissed that they didn't keep him on the roster at the start of the season.

Yeah it's a monetary issue having to do with arbitration. If they had brought him up at the first of the year, arbitration would kick in a year earlier... for holding out a couple months they'll get him one extra year without having to pay him what he's going to deserve. But then again, they may sign him before arbitration much like the Brewers did with Braum.

I forget about the whole arbitration thing. That's what happened to Longria of the Rays when they did they same thing that the Reds did to Bruce. Plus, I could see them doing the same thing that the Brewers did with Braum. Right now, he is basically do the same thing that Braum did when he got called up.

Manny being Manny 500 times!
Congrats to Manny Ramirez on hitting his 500th Homerun. (24th player in MLB History to do so.)
Sox picked up the W tonight but so did the Rays....... this week in Boston should be good with the 1st and 2nd place teams in the AL East faceing each other.

Re: 08 MLB season discussion thread
MANNY! What a shot to right center. The greatest right handed hitter of all-time finally hits his 500th homerun of his career. He was at 497 in like 2 weeks and was in a huge drought but he got a hold of one.
Papelbon was a little shaky today, but came through like he usually does. Huge series with Tampa coming up.

Re: 08 MLB season discussion thread
ESPN.com has a poll assessing the HOF chances of 25% players. I was one of just 2.8% who identified Billy Wagner as a "first ballot lock." If you draw up a list of relief aces (I came up with a list of all pitchers with 200+ career saves), Wagner and Mariano Rivera leap to the top in ERA+. No other pitchers are even close. Wagner is as dominant a per-inning pitcher as anyone in history, and he is the most dominant left handed reliever of all time. His playoff performances might hurt, but I can't see leaving a guy out because he had 10 1/3 bad innings.
