A week ago I never would have thought that the Red Sox would have a realistic chance of winning the division. The way the Rays have played so consistently well this entire season the complete meltdown they have had has blindsided me. Now heading into a crucial stretch where the two teams face each other 6 times in about a week and a half span, the Red Sox are very much within striking range and the team is getting healthy and firing on all cylinders. With Lester on the mound Monday, I'm feeling cautiously optimistic.

1.5 games out of 1st in the AL East and the Sox have Lester, Matsuzaka and Beckett going against Jackson, Kazmir and Sonnanstine. I think this series should get the Sox right back in it. Here's to hoping for a sweep

Looks like the Cubs are in quite the struggle these past two weeks. They're still in first, but losing a lot. And who knows how hurt Zambrano is? I was switching back and forth between the Bears game and watching Johan pitch. Damn, that guy's good.

An absolutely superb performance from Jon Lester tonight going 7 2/3 scoreless and linking directly to Papelbon. As far as I'm concerned, Lester is the BoSox #1 pitcher (even though I'm sure Beckett will start game 1 in the playoffs). Tomorrow the Sox have Dice-K on the mound and can take first place! Woohoo!

Billy Wagner is out for the rest of this season as well as the 2009 season.

Damn Jays game got rained out tonight and looks like shall play two tomorrow. Got huge 8 game win streak going right now with Burnett taking the mound for first game. As long as they take one of the games tomorrow should be able to keep momentum going. Always like them going on fire at the end of the season when the wild card is basically out of reach. Think they are 8 games back right now or something.

Damn the Red Sox came back and had that game until Papelbon straight up sucked in the 9th. Oh well, we'll get 'em tomorrow with Beckett.

Man Jays sweeped the double header against White Sox and extended win streak to ten games. Just caught scores on the ticker but sounds like Litsch and Burnett both pitched great.
