Not sure how much I'm going to enjoy this season. If the drivers end up just cruising around to save fuel or the overtakes become so fake i'll be switching off. Gonna give it a chance first though

Re: Formula 1 2014

fantastic result. have plenty of time for rosberg, the hometown hero in danny ric and this magnussen looks really good. great stories attatched to all, rosberg only a win behind his dad now, dan the first aussie on the podium down here, and the magdaddy the first dane to ever be on the podium.

those mclaren's look like porn on wheels too.

Re: Formula 1 2014

^Agreed. Top 3 were sublime, thought Button did a hell of a job too to be able to grind his way up to 4th. Great result for the Maccas. Button & Magnussen may be the most underrated lineup imo. Magnussen looking like he has the goods and Button getting a 4th with a bit of strategy and presumably some efficient fuel-saving. Props to the Toro Rossos too. Both in the points. Kvyat scores on debut. And maybe I'm being a bit petty but it was a bit satisfying to see Vettel and Hamilton retire

Re: Formula 1 2014

^ Not petty at all, and I’m a Hamilton fan (more a Macca fan, but I’ve still a soft spot for Lewis). Beyond that, a podium without The Finger is a welcome one.

BUT....

Ricciardo disqualified over exceeding fuel flow. RBR is challenging the dq, but in the report they’ve been hit for knowingly running an illegal car. :/

Re: Formula 1 2014

Entertaining race, decent amount of non-DRS overtaking so that's a good sign for the season ahead. I'll admit it was nice to see the Hamilton retirement as well as the McLaren resurgence. Shame to see about Ricciardo but at least he did get his podium moment out of it.

If I had to call it right now, I'd be saying Alonso for the title.

Re: Formula 1 2014

I think its going to be one of the mercades. They seem to be more accustomed to the changes. Some of the teams wont start showing what they have for a few races.

Quite a good start, admittedly I watched the highlights and not the entire race. Shocked how bad vettels car is. But in no way complaining.

Re: Formula 1 2014

Yeah this issue with Ricciardo is a shame because he drove the wheels off that car. Can't imagine McLaren would want him to be reinstated though because a double podium after last season's woes would be a damn good comeback (not that 3rd and 4th wasn't already). Red Bull are appealing though so we'll see what happens.

Re: Formula 1 2014

It sounds harsh on Ricciardo but these fuel issues could have been the reason he held off the McLarens, both where closing fast until they had to fuel save a bit where Ricciardo didn't seem to need too. yeah the team fucked up but it gave him an advantage as he could work the car harder. I don't see this being over turned either if the reports about the FIA warning them through the race.

Vettel seems heavy footed and it looks like he can't handle a turbo charged car he's been lighting up the wheels out of corners almost every time, nice to see the baby arse attitude we all knew he had coming out.

Shame about Lewis Hamilton I can imagine he'd have scampered off into the sunset had the engine held up.

McLarens look solid and they can only get better I think we'll see a 2 way battle between Mercs and McLarens early few races at least if not the season.

Drive of the day goes to Bottas for me, if hadn't nudged that wall and got a puncture he was a cert for a podium in my opinion.

There has been an awakening, have you felt it

Re: Formula 1 2014

I have seen so many drives go into walls harder than that (montreals last corner and the entire Monaco circuit come to mind) and be fine. He was really unlucky.
