I like his ring work but he has been god awful as a face. I liked him for a moth, but his character is incredibly stereotypical and they booked his Big Show feud so bad.

I think he's always had that natural babyface charisma. It's one of the main thing that worked against him as a heel - in addition to a one dimensional character with zero development that is.

Im pretty sure all their thought into his face turn was "fuck it, we've pushed this guy for 2 years and hes still going nowhere. turn him face and see if that shit works. if not, fuck him"

I think the best thing about the whole transition has been his in-ring style.. I've never seen anyone switch to working as a babyface after being a heel so smoothly.

That's because his moveset IS that of a face. This is what the problem was and why i believe he had alot of haters. Wwe wanted him to be this rich arrogant character but del rio`s style isn't made for a heel. You can't have a heel doing flips and flashy shit because that's crowd pleasing. So what you do when in essence your identity has been taken from you. A blind man can see that del rio is literally having fun in the ring now. He likes smiling and getting the crowd worked up. He couldn't do that as a heel. He just didn't know how to be bad. I hope it continues for him for the next few years he's around. I think he is amazing always have.

judging by the deafening fake crowd noise they played when del rio came out at the start of smackdown, i'd say the crowd is definitely loving it too. not the real crowd in attendance, but the fake crowd making the fake crowd noise.

by the way, anyone else not getting how the average white american is supposed to root for del rio and against swagger? we're supposed to be for more illegal immigrants that come over and work as gardeners. that's what this country was built on? huh?

This country was built on people coming over on ships who proceeded to forcefully take land and kill those who previously settled here. They were also immigrants. You're going to have to try harder.

In terms of booking i suppose he is. However his gimmick does seem to be much more suited to that of a heel. The problem with his heel run was that they never went all the way with his gimmick in that he's suppose to be a rich, manipulative protentious asshole who has lots of money and power and he should be using that to control the other heels and get them to do his dirty work and from what i can recall he only did that once or twice and we needed to see more of it. Instead he became a chickenshit heel churning out the same crap everytime oh and he was booked like shit as well. I suppose he is better as a face though in some respects. Although he does need a more impactful finisher.
