I like how you assume to know anything about my viewing habits and what I've seen or not. I've been watching Rey since Kevin Nash tossed him like a lawn dart into the side of a trailer circa 1996. I think 17 years is long enough to form an educated opinion on the guy. He's good; not great. Stone Cold is great. Bret Hart is great. Ric Flair is great. Rey Mysterio is good. As I said, even Hall good. But he will never be talked about in the discussion of all time greats.
Maybe by American standards he isn't great, but by lucha libre standards he in not only great, but one of the greatest.

I agree with that. He is absolutely one of the greatest lucha libres ever. But he is not one of the world's all time greats. I'm sorry but he's just not as great as guys like Stone Cold, Bret Hart and Ric Flair. He's just not. He is definitely Hall worthy but there are guys who get in the Hall and guys who are the elite of the elite. He is not in that class.
Rey is one of those guys who never really has a 'bad' match. Throw him in there with anyone, and he can work a WWE TV-friendly style match better than anyone I can remember. Has he been a top-flight superstar for the past 5 years? No, not really. But after all the high-flying shit he did back in the day, I don't expect him to.
One of my favourite Rey moments was when he let Nash lawn-dart him into the side of a trailer back in WCW. In one of Nash's interviews, he said that it was Rey's idea to just launch him head-first into the thing.
Additionally, he was one half of probably the coolest damn match I remember - against Eddie at Halloween Havoc '97. Seriously, take the 14 minutes and watch this match. They pulled off some shit that they never replicated again.

I've never seen a Rey Mysterio fan on this forum. The amount of hate he gets is just ridiculous. He was my favorite superstar when I started watching wrestling and I still like him today. He puts a lot of people over. He made Cody Rhodes.
There will never be another Rey Mysterio (Sin Cara sucks)
Mysterio gets all the rightful praise he deserves. He delivers consistently good matches. He's long past the days of great matches but he puts on decent, entertaining matches. Given his history of knee surgery, it's all I can ask for from him.
he's one of the GOAT. arguably the best babyface of all time

Tom Brady is the best by far. It’s not even close. Drew Brees has got to be right there. Tony Romo’s a good player. I’ll take Philip Rivers there. And Peyton, he’s right there. No order except for Tom being the best. He does things that other guys can’t do. His pocket presence is better than those guys by far. He throws a better ball than just about all those guys. He’s a winner – better than all those guys."
Looking at this thread answers i wouldn't say Rey is so underrated ^^
Personally i think Rey always been a talented wrestler, really talented when he was at his best, but still overrated during his championship run, one of the most pointless runs i ever saw (not Khali-level pointless of course, but still...)
Now, in wwe, he's not underrated, but sure thing he's under-used, almost wasted considering he doesn't have so many years left in the ring. It's like they don't have a clue about what to do with him.
Rey's body of work is probably close to top 20 all time. He's been pretty great since the mid 90's. If it wasn't for all the injuries I'd say he's top 10.
Rey is 10 times the wrestler London is. London's peak was what03-05?

Rey is bt far a better worker than RVD and Hardy. Rey is legit one the the goat baby faces.

In terms of matches only I'll put Rey's top 50 against Austin and Hart, and it's closer than most would think. Rey revolutionized high flying in the mid 90's. He's up there with Lyger as the goat junior hvt wrestler of all time.
I think Rey has a strong case for best wrestler in North America since 1995.
