Re: Awful "Candy Ass" dubbed line during Rock's segment
That single act of overdubbing honestly summarizes the WWE up for me.
They want feuds that lack intensity. They want feuds that are built on the constant rephrasing of catchphrases. They want feuds that are all glamour and scripted to the brim promos. They essentially want copy-paste and generic feuds in their main event.
You might think I'm over-reaching, but honestly, there is NO need for a stupid 'candy ass' vs. 'ass' debate in the first place, unless they want The Rock to be ten parts "I love the WWE Universe" and one part "I want to be the champion". The Rock is quite possibly the greatest mic worker of all time, so it rings true to me that Rocky wanted this promo to stick out as the seller of this feud. He wanted this promo to EMPHASIZE that The Rock indeed wants to beat CM Punk's ass. Not CM Punk's "Candy, Cookiepuss Ass", but his ass. There is a time and a place for catchphrases, and they certainly aren't unwelcome. But when you force them into something SERIOUS, it shows why goofy Cena garbage is in the main event slot as opposed to a captivating feud built on something beyond corny jokes.
