Rock on the mic with Punk was something epic. Rock on the mic with Rhodes Scholars was, to me, not as good as I hoped it would be.

You can't compare apples with oranges.
Rock's stuff with Rhodes Scholars was strictly meant for entertainment/comedic purposes and way more of a light hearted segment. Rock's stuff with Punk had some comedy but primarily focused on building the match at the Rumble, clarifying his issues with Punk, why he came back and was way more of a heated, in your face and intense confrontation. You can't expect a heated Rock/Rhodes Scholars segment when there's no basis behind it.
Comedy wise, Rock's work with Rhodes Scholars blew his stuff with Punk out of the water mainly because of the material. I found the former to be genuinely entertaining while the latter was cringe inducing. There was nothing funny about cookiepuss, telling Punk to strip naked and get a tat regardless of how much the crowd ate it up. The Rock is at the point where he'd take a shit in the ring, say, "This just isn't any shit, its the people's shit" and they'd pop for it.
On the other hand, his interaction with both Cody and Sandow was gold and I got a chuckle out of mostly everything he said. I'm one of the guys who was a bit disappointed with Rock's material ever since he's come back but in this particular segment, he was exactly like old school Rock bringing that heat on the mic. I understand its pretty subjective. If you were entertained by his insults in the Punk segment, good for you. I found them to be pretty corny.
That is all.
