That would be awesome if he did that. It would feed perfectly into Punk descending even more into heeldom than he already has, and it is true.
The thing is, if Cena was the heel in this whole feud we probably would've heard that, and it would've been fine. Punk saying the truth to Sheamus, while it sucks, is something that has been true for the better part of the last 10 years. It would've been one thing if Punk said that as a face, but as a heel? He's being a heel. It's not as much putting the WHC down as it is putting himself over as "The Best in the World".
Really, I don't see what the big fuss is. If Sheamus was heel he probably would've responded similarly. If any heel WHC was on the receiving end of that, they would have responded similarly. I think people take offense to that because it's true and they like Sheamus, or have gripes with Punk from outside of this.
What would've really been wrong is if Punk said something like:
"Sheamus, the World Title means nothing anymore. That's why it's on the b-brand and it doesn't help that a talentless ginger like yourself is bringing the title further down into the depths of mediocrity."
That could be looked at as true but that would've been going too far. Punk simply saying "At best, you're number 2" isn't bad and is actually the best he could do considering his gimmick. Of course Punk is the real number 2 and Cena is number 1, but Punk is a heel and his gimmick being an arrogant "Best in the World" requires him to think he really is such and the number 1 guy, even if he's not.
