The WHC was, regardless of card position was held respectfully over the last 1.5 years, yes, even during Bryan's run. For Punk to spout that crap, is quite hypocritical since when he held the WWE title, he himself knew how it felt being overlooked.

Now when Ziggler eventually cashes it in or Barett wins, w/e, it will mean much less.

Can you imagine Punk spouting that nonsense to a heel Mark Henry during his WHC reign? It would be quite ridiculous.

That's the problem, they've made the angle in such a way that people understand Punk has legitimate gripes, they don't discredit whatever he says as casual boasting, people actually acknowledge what he says.

Anyway, damage has been done, now everybody officially knows the real position of the WHC. They'll mostly forget this ever happened.

WWE's advertisement for smackdown will now be 'tune in people, to see the non important champion beat xyz to remain irrelevant' thats a ratings draw right there, especially for an already weak show.

I just don't see the problem here. Everyone and their mothers know that there is a pecking order of when it comes to the importance of the belts, everyone knows that the WWE title is bigger then the world heavyweight title. Punk just said what everyone already knows and it just further establishes the ego of his character.

And Starbuck, Punk's in a storyline all about him having a problem taking a backseat to Cena.

So first Cena discredits the WWE belt, then CM Punk discredits the WHC belt.

US and Intercontinental belts gonna get pushed.

Lol, just kidding. At any rate, didn't really read too much into it, just WWE/CM Punk desperately trying to sell the Heel Turn and convince the fans that Cena is the hero. However, it might have worked in any other town, but not Chicago it seems.

Thats not the point, genius. What you said is implicit knowledge, we all already know that is true. The point is, does Punk need to make it explicit knowledge? Does it make sense to categorically state that one show (belt) is superior to the other, when the goal is to create the illusion of 2 brands?

Anyways like I said, this might be forgotten next week. Even then, I think most people will have it in the back of their minds next time they watch SD.

It was up to Sheamus there to say something along the lines of "Well step into the ring with me fella and I'll show you that I'm anything but second best" at that point. Not that Punk is blameless but yeah, Sheams was highly uncomfortable out there and it showed.
