I'm not making an excuse for Cena, an excuse is making up something. It's just truth. If he hadn't been overpushed, he'd get more face pops than Hardy, and you can bet if they gave the Cena push to Jeff, he'd get the backlash worse. I don't need to make an excuse for him since I've already proven that Cena outpopped the biggest moment in Hardys entire career.

As far as everybody else goes, it depends on the person. Hardy is a lunatic and is good at making people excited, and WWE don't really have anything else like him, and haven't since RVD, who was also more popular than Jeff. So he has that going for him.

Jeff Hardy getting booed by a WWE audience if he received a Cena push, that's a pretty big assumption considering Hardy has basically never been booed by a WWE audience regardless of what he has done.

He's also never been in a main event position since before the last few years. Right now the WWE audience is thrilled that Hardy is the WWE champion, because they finally get to see it after waiting so long. They're finally getting their moment, but I have no doubt that if the WWE forced Jeff Hardy down peoples throat like they did with Cena, they would get sick of him. Eventually they would, whether or not it would take longer than Cena is something I don't really know, but this isn't the old days and Jeff Hardy isn't Hogan. He was pretty much the only one capable of pulling off such a feat, and did, to the point where the WWE had to figure out a way to take the belt off him without causing a riot, and this was 4 years into one title reign. Now we're in an era which is very much coated with smarkness, I guess you could call it. People are much more in the know about how things work, and nobody wants to see somebody win like that for a year or 2 straight.

If they actually try it and Hardy remains the most liked face in the WWE, then I'll take it back, but it seems basically impossible.

I think we can safely assume they won't try it anyway, and neither do i care to see Hardy pushed liked Cena either, but if they did, i don't think he would get half the amount of shit Cena gets. Think what you will about Cena or Hardy's wrestling skills and who maybe better in the ring, but i've never heard Hardy get 'you can't wrestle chants', and lot of the Cena hate comes from Cena's perceived lack of wrestling skills(whether that's true or not) combined with his superman push. The first people the Hardy's ever got over with despite what people say, was the adult males for jumping off shit, and most of those same fans still cheer for Hardy for those same reasons, and Hardy is out of the fabled attitude era and we all know how smarks love that.

Cena and Hardy are two completely different cases, whose fan bases were built up differently, Hardys fan base has been built up over a large number of years attached with it quite alot of loyalty, whilst Cena's was more of an instant thing, if you know what i mean, which didnt have the same attachment and loyalty.

It all depends on which group of fans you're talking about. Probably to the casual fans Cena is more popular...But I do certainly believe that if you ask fans of the attitude era (or just the more hardcore fans) then you'll get a resounding "HARDY!" I imagine though, if we had a Hardy vs Cena match up sometime soon, Jeff would probably be cheered over Cena if not the same amount. I know that those two have had a match before in the past but Jeff was not built up just yet like he is now.

I doubt it, it just depends on if they keep him champion long enough for people to start turning on him.

Jeff Hardy was popular before John Cena existed in the WWE. That having been said, Jeff also has the mic skills of a dead lemur. I would prefer to have Cena time instead of Hardy time in my shows.

Another reason I can actually stand Cena (despite the tired hip-hop thing, and the extremely tired "I win" thing), is that he gets heat from one section of the stands EVERY time he comes out. I love that.

The difference is that alot of adult fans don't like cena but everyone likes Jeff Hardy with only a few small exceptions

Hardy's been more liked and popular than Cena among WWE fans for well over a year, before even hitting gold. He's the most over guy in the whole organization. If it weren't for his legion of fans, he would have been released a long time ago and never would have gotten near the grandest prize in the business. As for Cena, I think turning him heel and giving him a fresh gimmick would completely refresh his character and maybe he'd be more over than Hardy, hard to say.
