Re: LIVE, ONGOING COVERAGE FROM TONIGHT'S SMACKDOWN TAPING IN PHILADELPHIA
In WWE if they have a chance to make money and add to their fanbase they will do this over any fans opinion. Lets look at the brightside though......There's a good chance we will see Khali get a sledgehammer to the head and the crowd will go wild.
This (business related) is a very smart move by WWE.

Khali could face HHH in a filler PPV like Cyber Sunday. Don't put Khali against HHH in the biggest party of the summer.

You have the logic backwards. Summerslam can draw on it's name alone, it doesn't need a stacked card to draw more than 500,000 buys. Logic says keep Triple H/Hardy for a show like Unforgiven or No Mercy because those shows need a match to draw. However, Summerslam can draw on it's name alone and it has a Hell in a Cell match. Finally, Triple H/Hardy would've taken the backseat the the Hell in a Cell match, both on the PPV and on Smackdown. Why use Triple H/Hardy when it won't even be the focal point of the show?

You do have a point. It would actually make more sense if the fans voted in Jeff Hardy at Cyber Sunday to face HHH I guess. Khali will be owned by HHH at SummerSlam anyways at least. That's a no brainer.

Actually, given good booking, I think WWE can turn MVP/Kennedy into draws in 4 weeks. Though all that is moot since H would end up squashing them anyways.

Well if they aren't looking for a draw give MVP a shot at the main event I reckon and see how he goes. That seems more logical to me than a waste of a match with an obvious result.

well, at the end of ss 2007 khali had the whc, so wwe obviously feel comfortable putting him in a similar position this year, although i doubt he'll beat hhh clean, wait forget the clean.

Wait...what? MVP/Triple H should happen because it doesn't have an obvious result? Are you fucking kidding me?

Nah, it'd be useful though. Matches like MVP/Triple H are useful because they help elevate a person to where they are considered for World title shots and don't need a longer slower push. Like Lesnar/Cena at Backlash '03, no one thought Cena was walking out champion, but in '05 it helped that he had been in the title scene, however briefly before. Same thing with Batista's involvement in title feuds while in Evolution. No won though he was going to win the '05 Elimination Chamber, but it helped that he was in it. Again with Kennedy at the '07 Royal Rumble and what would have been Hardy's push at Royal Rumble '08.
These guys have absolutely no realistic chance of winning, and generally there are matches higher on the card that are the real draws for the PPV's but the world title match sets up for something. So, why not utilize SummerSlam, like you said, a PPV that sells just because of the name alone and put MVP/HHH on there?

You're grasping at straws. You can't honestly believe that Cena getting squashed 2 years before his title push helped. Hell, I'm willing to bet a lot of fans didn't even know he was in the main event in '03 so I'm baffled as to how that helped him. You know what helped Cena, a good push. Notice during his push, Cena wasn't put against the champion and subsequently squashed. Same applies to Batista.
You can't just put MVP in there (who by the way has absolutely no build to begin with) and have him squashed by Triple H. The best thing to do with MVP is to build him up over the course of a few months, not in 4 weeks.
You said it yourself, they have no chance of willing so why should a fan care? It's important to make fans care and frankly, they'll care about Khali/Triple H because Khali is an actual threat.
