I could maybe see him getting the ECW Title but nothing more than that.

Yes, I think Finlay deserves a title of some sort. I had the privelege of seeing him wrestle Matt Hardy live, at SmackDown last June. He's a hell of a wrestler who displays both technical and charismatic prowess and has a good gig going for him as the fighting Irishman. (not so much with the Hornswaggle thing, imo although it was a great way to give him a push as a face with the "great protector" gig and whatnot.)

The question is which title should he get? The United States title would be a no-brainer and a Matt Hardy/Finlay feud would be excellent for both of them. A world title might be a bit much, at least in the WWE's current state with it's roster situation, ratings, and writer/storyline problems. I would, however, love to see him wear that belt at some point before he retires. (as a face) I couldn't really see him tag-teaming with anyone on the current SmackDown roster though. (with the exception of Hornswaggle, but please... just no.)

Turn him heel and let him take the US title off Matt Hardy. I would like that very much. Another idea would be to send him to Raw and let him and Regal compete for the Tag Titles. With Regals rise to power that could make an interesting storyline.
Him and Regal would make an awesome heel tag team. Imagine this feud: Finlay turns on Hornswoggle, beating him with the chillelagh. Kahli comes to Hornys rescue and becomes his great protector. Regal then sides with Finlay and voila, you have two new tag teams: David and Goliath/The Royal Rumblers. Or something like that

Why the old wrestler should get the advantage on the young ones?
Finlay is a veteran, he's been a long time in business and always been a mid card.
He's always around, active in the roster, he's also one of the SD! producers.
But the title? Youngsters deserve it more.

Maybe Tag Team title, one day, along with some young wrestler.

there's no logical incentive to put the strap on him (dude is pretty much stuck with hornswoggle)...

absolutely not as a face champion

He more than "deserves" it but whether or not it's actually a good idea is another question.

I would love for him to go into a world title feud to see what could come from it. I think he has the skills and the fan support but his age will not do him any favors at this match.
