Not really newsworthy, it's obvious they're going to give him a long title reign similar to JBL's as there has been 6 different champions thus far and Jinder needs to be further established as a top guy with the title.
You know what? As long as Mahal continues to improve I'm all for it. He's good on the mic and he gets good heat but he is still below average in the ring.
Watch how it'll come out that he never said that but I can't see Jinder having a long title reign. He still isn't even remotely close to being a top superstar despite holding the title and SummerSlam is right round the corner and the obvious SD main event should be Orton vs AJ.
I'm all for it, nobody on the full time roster has the capacity to singlehandedly elevate the quality of the product. They've chosen a new route, just go with it. Not like it can get too much worse
Jinder should definitely hold the title until Royal Rumble or even WrestleMania. Whoever finally goes over him should be an upcoming face who will be made by it, ala Cena vs. JBL at WM21.
In the meantime, I'm really looking forward to a money match at SummerSlam with John Cena!
give me some real fucking fuckery in this. interferences, belt shots, sneak attacks, running away with the limo, punjabi references
really pile it on, i love the nonsense and with a heel like jinder he'd actually get some genuine heat for doing it. make the fans detest him and build the eventual title winner as far away from jinder as possible
this could be the most effective run in years if not botched
Let's see how Jinder does after the excitement wears off. If he continues to be passionate, improve and get a big reaction, there's no reason he shouldn't hold the title until Rumble or even Wrestlemania.
So long as the angle of Jinder Mahal as WWE Champion is working on Smackdown, I would vote for him to hold the championship all the way to Wrestlemania.
Keep A.J. Styles far away from him in the meantime. Mahal can finish off his feud with Orton in a few weeks. Styles can win Money in the Bank. Mahal can defeat John Cena through some shoddy methodology at Summerslam, then work with Sami Zayn for a couple of months, etcetera... Styles declares that he wants to schedule his Money in the Bank challenge for Survivor Series, no impromptu cash-in. Mahal and his cronies cheat him out of the match while also having Styles "blow" his MITB opportunity. Mahal works with Big Show for a little while (no idea what brand Show's supposed to be on). Styles keeps chasing Mahal through December and January but Mahal keeps ducking him through one means or another.
Styles wins The Royal Rumble match and of course goes after Mahal and the WWE Championship, and defeats Mahal clean as a whistle at 'Mania while Mahal has his best match ever.
Granted, Styles probably only has a few more short years in the proverbial tank but the angle if played out right would cement him as a top babyface for the rest of his WWE career, and then you can start building up various heels through him, obviously saving your top fledgling heel pick to be the one to go over him.
Honestly sick to death of the Money in the Bank institution. It just adds unnecessary complications and it's played out and has been for a few years now, but they're not getting rid of it, so there it is.
So are we getting Cena v Jinder at Sumemrslam? The big American hero facing off against the foreign heel.... can they seriously be going this route again?
as long as his run is as entertaining as it has been, then they should keep on rolling with him.
