Did they make Naomi look irrelevant last night?

Naomi may have walked out of last nights show with the title but this women's division is clearly all about Charlotte. The heel trio of Nattie, Carmella and Tamina interfered in the match as expected. Naomi was dragged out of the ring and the three went after Charlotte immediately all the while ignoring Naomi. When Naomi got back in the ring to fight she was then overpowered and knocked back out of the ring while the trio returned their attention to Charlotte. Funny how those three women are more threatened by the appearance of Charlotte than the current champ. Just another example of WWE making their title holders look great, I suppose.

Naomi was just in a SDL main event that was very competitive with the top woman on the roster. Which is by far the biggest highlight of her career. Anyone that thinks that Naomi is going to be booked equally to Charlotte in every way is delusional. The whole "everyone is equal" thing didn't work out too well for SD. They are building a division around their star. This is Charlotte and Becky's story at the end of the day. The rest are just supporting cast.

Jesus christ no they didn't. She looked more important with the drama that her and Charlotte have unfinished business. They were having a good match and after the attack both her and Charlotte were focused on equally with the cameras. Charlotte will get more attention for 2 reasons, she's by far the top woman in the company, and because the story is the trio resenting her instant title shot. They weren't mad at Naomi, they were mad at Charlotte, so that's why they tossed her out of the ring and beat up Charlotte. Naomi got back in the ring to fight back, and it took 2 women to get the better of Naomi.

These fucking haters...

Quite the opposite, actually. Naomi felt more important than she ever has. Seems like a lot of you are reaching for some bizarre reason but Flair is the hardest pushed woman in the last few years and the new face on SD. Of course they're going to emphasize her current story, and it seems like a face turn is on the horizon. Naomi had fought Flair to a stalemate and looked damn good. It also took two women to take her out. Some of you are uncomfortable because an ethnic face in your safe space at the top of any division is due to "those damn Samoans and black history month!!" but she's fine and has never looked better. I'm still surprised at how over she is. I don't see anyone being booked stronger than Flair but Naomi is surprising me and hasn't looked anywhere near as poor as I believe some wanted her to.

Clearly Charlotte and Becky are going to be the backbone and center of the SDL Women's division for some time, Naomi is just there to push forward the story and be the role of supporting cast. Plus, having the three heels attack Charlotte, not requiring Naomi or Charlotte to take the pin is best for both of them, they are still protected and the champion still looks strong in that way.

They might also be turning Charlotte face now, and having the heels attack Charlotte, with the cameras and spotlight being on Charlotte will let the audience adapt to the face turn better, instead of having Naomi fight them off and diluting the crowd reaction and response for Charlotte.

I think they've been a surprisingly good fit to each other in the ring. We aren't going to get any Charlotte/Sasha level classics here, but it's little things. Charlotte's height makes Naomi's kick look more impressive and Naomi has a little meat on her bones so deadlifting her into a powerbomb also looked really good for Charlotte. The natural athleticism from them both shows. Yeah, there's been a few sloppy spots, but overall my expectations from Naomi have been exceeded.

Naomi is just fine, the heels are just upset that Charlotte has just got to SDL and has gotten everything she's asked for so quickly.

Charlotte and Becky are far more talented than the rest of the women's roster.
They will eventually have a feud but that does nothing for the rest of the division, so this unification will workout like a faction.
Giving lots of attention and spotlight to the lesser known part of the division while Becky and Charlotte dont need it as people already come to see them.

Naomi vs Charlotte may have been Naomi's best match yet, and it really elevated her in my opinion.

They kind of do make Naomi look useless because the ending implied that Charlotte would have the championship by now if the Welcome Committee didn't interfere. The center of the entire SmackDown women's division is Charlotte as it doesn't seem to be about any of the other women including Naomi. However, Naomi should have some epic battles with Charlotte which will add to her credibility and her promo before the match was pretty good even though it was typical.

Naomi was in the main event, but the women's story was more about Charlotte's conflict with the 3 heels and Becky really. The heels were expecting Becky to come out for the save, but didn't. I don't think Charlotte is turning full face nor should she. She needs to use someone to help her get Natalya, Tamina and Carmella out of the way so she can get back on track to becoming champion again.

In terms of follow-up, they may with Becky's character and establish direction by giving her promo time and Charlotte's conflict with Natalya, Carmella and Tamina by likely putting them in a 2 on 2 tag match by having Charlotte team with Naomi.

Why shouldn't they be more threatened by Charlotte? She's accomplished more in a year than Naomi will across her entire career. She's the top woman in the company and WWE aren't going to shy away from it. Just like with Roman in his division, everybody is secondary to Charlotte at the end of the day. Sure, she loses more often than he does but that's solely due to being a heel.

All aboard the Naomi hater express. They'll make anything up to discredit her. There was no reason for them to attack Naomi. The end of the match keeps Charlotte and Naomi looking strong while advancing this storyline. Charlotte got her title match and this potentially keeps her away from Naomi's Belt.

Just mark that down with the numerous reason that no on will ever like Charlotte. Like the only person on the planet who can go from a horrible heel who ruined a babyface's life, is Kevin Owens, who is turning into Cena before our eyes.

But yeah, Naomi gets the title, and Bayley has title, and the woman with gold is suppose to run the show, yet both are clearly being told what is up, they aren't making it feel like either are in control. While Asuka is on freaking NXT dominating Cena style not letting anyone get the better of her or making her look bad. Which is something you can't really write, and even if you did Bayley and Naomi can't bring it like others could.
