Re: Concerning that Nakamura is getting "What"? already?
You have to be consistently amazed by this company. Here's Nakamura, a guy with tons of charisma, a great worker, and the only thing he needs work on is his mic skills...so they tell him to go out and cut a promo.
Did these idiots learn NOTHING from Paul Heyman? Accentuate the positives, don't highlight the negatives.

Have them do this thing they're not good at to the point where they'll get better at it. Meanwhile, by the time they eventually are good at it, it's too late because the aren't over anymore.
This is exactly the wrestler in mind when you think about how hyped up a international star was coming into the WWE, only to fall flat. Nakamura isn't flat yet, but I can certainly see it happening if they keep this spastic "charisma" schtick thing.
Re: Concerning that Nakamura is getting "What"? already?
Nakamura's English is passable, but he's not going to shed the accent or pronunciations. Whoever thought it was funny to have him say Dolph Ziggler should be fired. This man is a true talent and should be protected, not hung out to dry.
Re: Concerning that Nakamura is getting "What"? already?
That fucking Dolph promo was so fucking stupid. "How to ruin a super star in 1 day".......You know how, tell the entire audience some stupid fucking story confusing them, cause 50% of people don't get the reference, does WWE really think people get that that was Jackson's story....
Even I very familiar with MJ's history and at first I was confused til he started talking about the traveling and monkey shit. I bet every fucking kid in the stadium is like "who the fuck is Tito and Janet".

No, fuck a good portion of the people bashing him on here and in reality.
I'll get banned telling off the people trying to roast his ass. Cringey? He's fucking being expressive. That's not "cringe worthy" I know we're all used to people coming out and saying corny ass catch phrases that the god damn nimble minded wrasslin fan crowd can chant to or people giving off "angry" looks like Braun, but being expressive isn't cringe worthy.
As for the complaints against his English? Fuck off. So tired of "he can't speak English well, now we can't push him". Why is it only PRO-WRASSLIN IN DUBYA DUBYA EH is the only fanbase that can't take a man who can't speak English well. Cesaro got knocked for it. Now it's going to be Nakamura? Be happy he can even speak it remotely in general.
I know it's going to fucking sound weird to your pro-wrestling hicks, like the bald product of incest in the crowd on Smackdown, but not everyone is from MURICA. He was speaking just fine that you could understand it, and so what if he can't? Watch his matches.
Sincerely irritating that now he's going to be called "overrated" because English isn't his first language. There were no complaints until he got to the main roster. But I expect nothing less from the WWE audience. Every time there's a star who's first language isn't English, they get hit with the "WHAT" chants. Ironically, half the people saying "WHAT" can't even properly pronounce a three syllable word in English but they're going to make fun of a guy who's first language isn't.
Whatever. When he goes to a decent crowd like Philly, or New York he'll be just fine. Can't do well in the southern and hick states.
TL;DR: Not everyone who comes to this company is going to be able to speak English amazingly. If you want the company to be any type of diverse, that's how it's gonna have to be.
But I don't expect members of this forum or the average WWE viewer to want it to have diversity. "CAN'T SPEAK MURICAN DON'T COME TO IT" right?

WWE could EASILY present Nakamura in a great way that gets him super over, even despite his English. A lot of the most popular guys in UFC and Boxing cannot speak a single lick of English and they have huge fan bases.
But WWE dont work like them. As long as you are a main event guy, they will book you the same as everyone else and expect you to go out there and speak during 10 minute segments. Its unavoidable. Thats just how their booking is.
So you cant blame the fans who dont have the same connection with Nakamura that you do and arent enjoying his promos. Blame WWE because they are the ones who are sabotaging him with their booking.
This is what happens when NXT doesn't focus on promo classes (I'm legit starting to think they either don't do them anymore or they removed the classes altogether) and instead is worried about tickets and pumping H's dick. The fuck have you spent a year for if you haven't improved your English? Yes, booking him in a segment where he has to do most of the talk is bad, but at least you'd expect he somehow showed some improvement when it comes to the English language?
The Undertaker got 'what' chants on several occasions too so I'm not concerned. The WWE Universe will do it to anyone whether English is his 2nd language or his pacing of speech is slower. WWE do need to find better ways to highlight Nakamura's strengths better and not use him for extended in-ring promos. There are several creative ways they can present a character and not everyone should be cutting promos longer than 5 minutes any way.
Everyone should know by now... anything involving Ziggler in this stage of his career will be hot steamy garbage... it took Miz to make him seem decent again...once that feud ended his momentum was gone instantly because Ziggler is/was just not doing good or interesting work... Mic work is and always has been the drizzling shits with him, hes been speaking English his entire career whats his excuse as to why he can't cut a resonating promo..heel or face Ziggler is awful at promos...
Nakamura has some aura and legit star like quality to him, even putting him up against a nonentity like Ziggler in his first program could hurt his potential ... but we'll see
Someone needs to go back in time and stop Stone Cold from ever inventing that chant. It was cool when Austin was wresting but it's been just cancer ever since.
It's part of the "experience" I guess. Fans see other fans at live shows chant certain things and then want to do it too when they get to attend a live show. "Monkey see monkey do"
This promo was exactly what I thought could turn out bad for Nakamura. Dolph Ziggler did all the talking and Nakamura just stood there doing his facial expressions... which is good but stop him from being one of the top players, someone who can lead a classic feud on the mic.
But he still didn't got his first match on the Main Roster so who knows, maybe it will get better with this...
The chants are nothing to do with who is in the ring, or how well they can speak English, or how good their promo is.
The chants are there because the wrestling fans that attend WWE shows are brain dead morons who are more interesting in getting themselves over as a city that's talked about for having one of them "crazy crowds", than just enjoying a good show. God, it's embarrassing to call myself a wrestling fan sometimes.
The worst thing is, it's not even the casual fans. The people that consider themselves "smart" are the even worse.
People that think it's funny to chant "Benoit" at HHH before NXT shows.
People that are more interested in playing with a beach ball than watching the best technical match of the night ... or Nakamura's main roster debut.
Fuck those people. We talk about WWE doing bad things for the industry? Well, what about the fuckhead crowds disrespecting the performers and athletes in the ring?
A live, in ring, scripted promo with a guy who can barely speak English defies all logic and common sense but this is the WWE aka Bizarro World. What did you expect ??
