Dolph Ziggler killing it with his Michael Jacksonification of Nakamura and basically combining a joke with the idea of calling him a poser at the same time while being deadpan was gold. I'm amazed. :clap

Ziggler was all right. The content was trash though.

Nakamura ended up looking pretty bad. But the jackass comment kinda saved his promo, since it was rather unexpected.

You can easily tell who they want to push after they took your money for NXT when they finally arrive on the main roster. Balor gets gold star treatment, Nak gets elementary jokes from a career overselling jobber about being Japanese. Nice.

Once again, I don't understand why people are always suckered into these signings by WWE. Same shit company ways. 'You bought the Network to see him as a star, now fuck off!'

I thought it was lame and not funny. A lot of people wouldn't have got the reference, especially if they didn't watch NXT and haven't seen much of Nak.

Nak's reactions were good though, when he rolled his eyes :lol

Some of you are salty, because Nakamura had to be torn apart in a promo because he's "so sacred". Ziggler put him on the spot point blank. If this were a different indy guy who got torn apart by Ziggler, some of you would be praising it or BETTER yet if Miz said that same promo to Nakamura, you'd all be praising Miz for tearing apart the "bland babyfaces that can't defend themselves". Instead, some of you are salty, because Nak was put up against Zigglers mic skills and couldn't come back with something this week. So you say it's crap because Nakamura kinda looked like crap.

Agreed. Like, I'll admit I'm a huge Ziggler fan, but I like Nakamura and think he should win the feud(unless it keeps up like this, and Nakamura keeps looking bad in the promo battles and stuff.) but Ziggler KILLED it tonight, and as you said a lot of people are just salty because it was Ziggler putting Nakamura in his place. He better step it up next time, or Ziggler will blow him away again.

To those saying Ziggler was unfunny/stupid. Good, he's a heel. You're not supposed to laugh with him. You're meant to find the guy obnoxious, his opionions ridiculous and feel sympathy for Nakamura (which the crowd did because they started a strong Nakamura chant when Ziggler was talking shite). It's classic heel 101 buffoonery. Let's not go down the Ken Kennedy/Kevin Owens 2016 route of having funny heels who you want to cheer for, please. That's one of the MANY reasons why WWE has been such a mess over the last few years.

With that out of the way, this was still a dodgy segment

If you found it boring because Ziggler has such a mediocre delivery, then fair enough, but that's a different matter altogether. Some of the Jackson references were outdated too though, I do agree with that.

Putting Nakamura in that spot with a live mic is a really bad idea. At best you have him record backstage soundbites (over and over until he gets it right) and choose the best ones, using them in a cool montage to get his point across. At worst you have him fire back at Ziggler with one in point short snappy line that Nak can actually say in clear English and with passionate conviction. Otherwise don't bother, until he can actually cut a *decent free flowing promo where it's not a struggle to understand half of his words.

So when you add up how Ziggler was being a doofus (his job) with meh delivery (a problem) and Nakamura can't cut a competent English promo without bells and whistles (HUGE problem for a babyface), plus the outdated pop culture that would go over the heads of a lot of the members of the younger audience, it comes across as a terrible segment. Make the Jackson references a bit more up to date, have a good heel promo deliver the words and if Nak can fire back in free flowing clear English then it's good, but it was a million miles from that. Having Nak talk in Japanese isn't going to help him get over as a face with non-Japanese (like 99.999999999999%) casuals in the crowd either, let's be honest.

*He did actually cut a decent promo during his NXT farewell, but that crowd was going to lap it up and be patient for him anyway, plus he won't get to speak in that heartfelt manner on a weekly basis, unfortunately for him.

But yeah as mentioned above, hide the negatives, accentuate the positives. This was poor booking.
