Former WWE Tag Team champions The Headbangers have taken to social media this evening, stating they would be competing this Tuesday at the WWE Smackdown Live broadcast from Dallas, Texas.

Smackdown is in the midst of a tournament to crown the first Smackdown Tag Team champions with one slot in the tournament featuring a team that had not yet been announced. Based on statements made by the team, which has been wrestling on the Florida independent scene in recent years, it would appear that eighth team could be the Headbangers. If so, they would face Rhyno and Heath Slater.

On his Facebook page, Chaz "Mosh" Warrington, in reference to his son, wrote, "Ever since Tyler was old enough to realize and understand that I wrestle, I've had a dream/wish. That dream/wish was to wrestle one more time in a WWE Ring so he could see it. This dream/wish will cole true this Tuesday night in Dallas, Tx!!! I will be on WWE's Smackdown Live Show on the USA Network!! Not only will he see me in ring but he'll be able to watch it Live on TV!! This is truly a dream come true for me and I'm beyond excited!!!"

Glen "Thrasher" Ruth also wrote on his Facebook page that the team would be appearing on this Tuesday's Smackdown episode.

The team broke into the New Jersey independents as the masked Spiders in the early 1990s (also doing enhancement work in WWF during that time period as well). Their tag team work led to a run in Smoky Mountain Wrestling, where they debuted the Headbangers gimmick.

In 1997, the team debuted for WWF, where they worked regularly until 2000. The team had a short run with the WWF Tag Team championships in 1997 while Thrasher also briefly held the WWF Hardcore championship. The team also memorably appeared as "The Sisters of Love" on the first episode of WWF Shotgun Saturday Night, dressed as wrestling nuns. The idea was dropped after that lone appearance.

Warrington was also featured briefly as Beaver Cleavage, a character that was dropped very soon after vignettes building to the debut began. He began wrestling as Chaz, although he was eventually reunited with Ruth as The Headbangers. '

Ruth left WWF in 2000. Warrington remained for another year, teaming with D'Lo Brown as the Lowdown in WWF before also departing. On a national scale, The Headbangers were last seen in Ring of Honor in 2014.
No thanks.

Re: The Headbangers say they're returning to WWE on SD Tuesday

I did enjoy that time they beat up ICP with chairs to be fair.
That was AWESOME. Properly stiffed those two no-talent fucks with chairshots like nobodies business. Man that's probably the best thing they ever did...and they got cheered for it even though they were supposed to be heels!

Headbangers in 2016 though...nah get out of here.

EDIT: Here it is:

Man, I had no idea how unpopular the Headbangers were on here :lol

tbf, the first thing that comes to mind when i think of them is Beaver Cleavage. I honestly don't remember a damn thing they've done as a team in the AE, and I watched every week

I had a feeling, just this strange gut feeling when I read a headline earlier that said "Attitude Era tag team returning to Smackdown?" that it would be Mosh and Thrasher.

I mean, if they can go I'm fine with it, but please just be a one time only deal.

Little nostalgia trips like that are cool. They should occasionally bring back a 90s guy for one or two shows to put someone over. Most of them are still working the indys and probably need the money anyway. It's not like that 6 minutes of airtime on Smackdown would be better used burying a younger talent.

I'm all for it. They're just there to out over Heath/Slater...it's better than 2 random local jobbers plus we get a nostalgia act and Chaz get to wrestle in front of his kid.
As long as they aren't there to steal someone's spot I'm fine with it.

Was hoping Shane would bring in his boys the mean street Posse!

Was everyone else busy :rileylel As long as it's just a one time thing to put Heath/Rhino over it shouldn't be a problem.
