WWE drop the ball with Bryan/Miz

Obviously, since Bryan can't wrestle, what's the best way for WWE to book Miz from here on out?

Do they have Bryan pretend nothing happened and book him in handicap matches? Make him defend the IC title all the time?

I see a lot of people saying they should have Miz break Honky Tonk Man's IC title record. That would mean another 310 days from now. If he makes it to WrestleMania as the champ would be an accomplishment.

Not sure if Bryan can take a bump like the Skull Crushing Finale, but that would be a great way to end this week's Smackdown.

Re: Best way to capitalize off Miz/Bryan?

Bryan putting Miz through hell, eventually dropping the IC Title to a NXT guy. Miz moving up to the main event scene and getting heel revenge on Bryan by possibly winning the title (I have no problem with Miz winning the Big Strap if he continues the serious side he showed during talking smack)

It would have been better than Kane beating up a milkman. Miz escapes with the title like the way guys like Angle and JBL used to when they were defending belts against the Undertaker.

Then Bryan keeps throwing guys at Miz, and Miz keeps cheating or gets himself DQ'd. this frustrates Bryan, and the fans that Miz keeps getting away with it. Build this up and up and up. The more and more you do it, the more the fans just really want Miz to get beaten.

Then Bryan can bring in Joe or Nakamura or Itami whowever and this person beats Miz the story concludes and Miz puts someone over making them a big deal. Miz can move to the main event as he is now built up enough to atleast look like he could win the WWE belt...

Sure that would have worked, and probably been very good. But like I said, I don't think they had a followup planned because they didn't anticipate how much interest the segment would generate. I don't believe they ever had any plans to do anything beyond the Talking Smack segment, and giving Ziggler a IC title shot out of it. Besides we can't have SDL, The Miz and the IC title outshining Raw, Haitch's return & the Universal title now can we. So they sabotage the worked/shoot angle before it can really pick up steam.

Again that's just my opinion.

Re: Best way to capitalize off Miz/Bryan?

I agree Daniel needs to throw challengers at Miz almost weekly. First they need to suit the mold of Bryan. This finally could be the Austin vs. McMahon they have been looking for.

Phase 1: The Cruiserweights

I´d start with Drew Gulak, Kota Ibushi and Zack Sabre Jr. Miz wins clean over Gulka and Ibushi, but it´s hard matches on Smackdown. Miz gets on the stick: I know your little fancy cruiserweight tournament, but stop insulting the greatest IC champ and at least get me the midget champion. (Assuming it will be Zack Sabre Jr. Match on Smackdown. Miz sells it: I fact checked you do not have a valid WWE contract, I´m not obligated to fight you. Bryan signs Sabre Jr. to a contract. Now it´s PPV: Champion vs. Champion. Miz says One Time Only. Bryan agrees. Miz loses by DQ due to outside interference by Maryse. Sabre Jr. is made. Cruiserweight belt established. Long-term story in place that can be re-visited.

Phase 2: NXT.

Smackdown match first with somebody like Oney Lorcan. Miz beats him clean. Up next Austin Aries Smackdown Main Event. Miz again working it: Oh right. You are the guy that made Daniel almost quit the first time. Miz goes over. Daniel is getting upset. He makes a trade. Randy Orton and a future pick for Sami Zayn. Miz makes fun of it. You trade a veteran, a x world champion for Sami Zayn and you give them a pick too. Now Miz makes "one time only" his PPV stipulation. Bryan counters "No DQ and No Countout" this time. Survivor Series: Sami Zayn vs. Miz. They put on a 30 minute match. Time limit draw. Next night on Smackdown Miz start messing with Daniel: Gotta read the fineprint my friend. You can still read, my braindamaged friend, right?

Phase 3: Veterans. Daniel sells out.

Now Daniel has reached the point, where it drives him insane that he cannot get the better of Miz. So he makes another trade. This time he trades a young piece for a RAW veteran. Goldust for Crews. Obviously Miz makes fun of the fact that Bryan is turning his back on the indy darlings. Obviously Miz wins easilyin a squash, but now he says: Wow that was the toughest match yet. These WWE veterans. They know their stuff. Next Smackdown backstage you see a slumped over Daniel Bryan. He´s defeated. Somebody walks in. He looks up. It´s the Big Red Machine. Yes.Yes.Yes. It´s Kane vs. Miz. And again Miz goes over.

We are at the point Daniel is completely selling out. All he wants his Miz beaten and the IC title taken. Miz makes him an offer. Royal Rumble. Veteran of his choice, BUT 1.) One time Only. 2.) Miz automatically gets the #30 spot in the Rumble 3.) And he gets off until Wrestle Mania. No more title defenses.

Daniel is so desperate he agrees to all of Miz´s conditions.

Bryan picks the Anti-Daniel. It´s Miz vs. a returning JOHN CENA for the IC title at the Royal Rumble. Miz wins again. In the Rumble itself Sami Zayn not only eliminates Miz, but shockingly goes on to win the Rumble.

Phase Four: The Pay-Off

Next night on Smackdown. Miz has a huge celebration. Daniel is in the ring. At this point he has nothing left. He is a broken man. He´s sold his soul to the devil John Cena. Bryan says it´s over. You won, Miz. He starts to walk away from the ring as Miz continues to lay into him verbally. Suddenly Sami Zayn´s music hits. Daniels head goes up. He feels hope. Obviously Miz says: What are you doing here. You can´t have a match I already beat you. No rematch clause. Daniel´s shoulders slump again. He starts walking away again. Sami says: Not so fast. Pulls out a piece of paper. Royal Rumble stipulation. Winner of the Rumble gets a title shot. Doesn´t say which title. Everybody just assumed it´s the world title, cause that´s the obvious choice. You gotta read the fine print. Daniel confirms.

It´s on. WRESTLEMANIA: The Miz vs. Sami Zayn. The rematch for the IC title. And this time NO DQ, NO Countcout, and NO time limit, cause it´s a ladder match.

Next week on Smackdown Miz walks into the video room and there is Zayn and Bryan studying ladder match tape. Miz gets upset. He´s a bit nervous. He needs help. So for the WrestleMania build up he starts seeking advice. First up the greatest IC Champion of all-time: The Honky Tonk Man. Honky tells him he has no experience in ladder matches. He needs different advice. Up next Edge and Christian, the ladder match kings. They point out to him that well tag ladder matches are different maybe he needs to ask a singles expert. They ask Miz whether he´s okay. He seems in distress. Miz in deep thought. Say no he´s fine. They are correct. He needs the greatest expert on ladder matches Shawn Michaels.

Final episode of Smackdown before WrestleMania.

So Miz is off to Shawn Michaels place. He rings the door. Nobody opens. Miz starts losing it. He´s yelling. Finally Shawn opens the door. Miz is happy. Explains the problem to Shawn. Sucks up to him. Eventually Shawn only says: You know I trained Daniel Bryan, right? Miz is starting to lose his composure. But he´s not the greatest IC champ for nothing. He recovers: You know Shawn. You are right. I don´t need you. I need to talk to the guy who beat your sorry ass at WrestleMania X. I need the Bad Guy. I need Razor Ramon. Shawn turns into his house and says: Scott, there is somebody at the door, who wants to talk to. Miz looks at Shawn. He´s fuming. He turns around and starts to walk away. Razor appears in the door and adresses Miz: Hey, Yo.

Shawn says: You know this is going to be the greatest IC match since our match at WrestleMania X. Razor just puts his arm around his shoulder and they walk back into the house together.

Obviously Zayn goes over Miz clean at Mania.

Re: Thanks WWE for the false advertising of Bryan/Miz

The only thing I can think of is Miz's promo last week went s bit off script and they basically ignored it and went the direction they were thinking of. Bit of a shame but where do you go with Miz - Bryan when one of them can't wrestle a match.

Only hope is this springboards Miz and we get to see more good promos in future.

If anything it confirms Miz went a bit off script.

Yes Bryan called Miz a coward for not breaking his neck like he did but Bryan still had a really good argument in return. For him at this point in his life to return to the indies is pretty stupid because he is worth more than that. He has a family now etc and its simply not a good progression for his career or life.

If I recall correctly originally Miz asked why he is not getting the respect he deserves and Bryan gave him a blunt answer. Bryan had a reckless stupid style but in 20-30 years people will remember a wrestler like Bryan over the Miz. Sticking your neck out for the business is not everyone's answer but it is Bryans answer in regarding respect.

Bryan walking out
He walked out because it would be pointless to have the inactive wrestler shut down the active wrestler. Or he walked out because he could put over the active wrestler or both which is good business wise.

Bryan put over Miz good.

Jesus guys Bryan just said on Talking Smack that they wont let Miz and Bryan have anymore interactions on camera. What do you expect Bryan and Miz to do if they are not allowed to be on camera together, cooling it off is the only option at that point.

Bryan did go on to not only apologize to Miz, but said Miz was right, that he feels he is okay, and he might just go wrestle shows at the Tokyo Dome.

Bryan said he walked out because ultimately The Miz was right in what he was saying, and it really pissed him off.

How did they "drop the ball" exactly? We had top management addressing it during the teaser at the top of the show, then Miz stormed out before his entrance music could hit and cut a GREAT promo.

This storyline is ultimately about making the IC title relevant and Bryan cant fight so Ziggler (who just came from main eventing summer slam) made the most sense. Yes theyve feuded too many times but im actually interested for the first time this time.

Miz will win, ziggler will (hopefully) turn heel, bryan will get annoyed that Miz's safe style is still paying off and he will intervene even after shane told him not to, which should hopefully lead to a Samoa Joe debut or something along those lines.

You can get annoyed in a month if bryan has totally removed himself from the story but this clearly feels like a slow build to me.

Jesus fucking christ, be patient. Most of you complain that WWE rush storylines too much leaving plot wholes, yet some of you here are wetting your trousers over not having a Bryan/Miz confrontation one goddamn week after Miz's promo. They're actually doing a slow build storyline for once, and it's one of the most interesting things going on right now. Be fucking patient.

Re: Best way to capitalize off Miz/Bryan?

I like the idea of Bryan having Miz defending the title every week like Cena did. Only problem with that is with the brand split, Miz would run out of opponents soon.

My hope this all lead to a lot of back and forth until Bryan introduces a new star from NXT to take the title from Miz. My guy would be Nakamura, since Bryan has said he is his favorite wrestler. But since Nakamura will champion on NXT for a while, I’ll go with Samoa Joe.

Both men are guys who Bryan identifies with. Hard hitting and aren’t afraid to get hit, which is the exact opposite of what Bryan thinks of Miz.

What’s going to be interesting to see is the dynamic these two have on TV I they follow up on this. We’ve seen heel authority figure vs. face wrestler a million times but we don’t usually see it the other way around.

I'll co-sign that idea of Bryan having Miz defending the title every week against new challengers. The concept would have more legs than you think. Smackdown have 30 male wrestlers at that moment. That's 29 weeks worth of matches for the Miz. Then you could double some up and do, do-overs. Then you add in new wrestlers who'll filter in, then add a few job matches in there, there's probably enough to stretch this out for a year.

With Miz eventually gaining the respect of Bryan and in reality, the fans. You can even have it end up with Miz evening defending Bryan's honour against some big time heel and turning Miz into a huge face.

Re: Best way to capitalize off Miz/Bryan?

Miz to survive every challenge Bryan throws at him cleanly if possible only for him to lose with Bryan interfering , after that Miz wins the world title and Bryan loses it , start booking Miz in handicap matches until Miz is out because of an injury , Bryan wins .

Re: Best way to capitalize off Miz/Bryan?

Yeah, a lot of people on here are nailing it. Bryan will probably just continue to book him in matches that he would expect Miz to lose, where he keeps upping the stakes. Maybe like Kane at Backlash. A 4 way dance at the following ppv. And maybe he finally drops it at Survivor Series to a "surprise opponent" which ends up being an NXT guy - like Joe or Nakamura. I know Nakamura is a huge stretch, but how awesome would that be for Nakamura to be an IC champ and NXT champ at the same time?

Re: Best way to capitalize off Miz/Bryan?

Someone else had this idea and I've forgotten their username to give them credit but have Bryan place obstacles in Miz's path making his life hard, Miz however, whether through underhanded means or cleanly pulls through every time, while pointing out to Bryan and everyone else that Bryan has become what he once wanted, The Authority. This enrages Bryan, who ironically calls in Joe to destroy The Miz, who does just that, leaving Bryan to ponder what kind of monster he's become and what kind of monster (Joe) he's just unleashed on the Smackdown roster.

Re: Best way to capitalize off Miz/Bryan?

You see this would have been perfect if Owens, Cesaro, and Sami Zayn were on Smackdown, and hell even Finn Balor. I know people would hate The Miz going over. But those guys made their name on the indies doing crazy shit, it would be brilliant if somehow each and every week even if Bryan may have issues with a guy like Owens, to try to have one of them take the title off The Miz... Only for The Miz to keep retaining I think it would be great if done correctly.

They can still kind of do it if they did mass call ups with NXT talent like Aries, Hideo, Gargano, Ciampa and such. People wouldn't want to see The Miz go over... But hey that's the point.

Re: Best way to capitalize off Miz/Bryan?

Bryan should be late for Smackdown and have someone of bryan's size enter through the crowd wearing a mask and nail Miz with the flying knee costing Miz the match(against Ziggler because he needs a win. non title match ofcourse). Bryan then shows up to Smackdown. Miz confronts Bryan about costing him the match and Bryan denies it being him saying he is not cleared to wrestle, it couldn't be him.

I actually quite like that idea, I'd dig that type of storyline going forward.
