FOX announced the renewal of the John Cena-hosted reality series "American Grit" today, so the series will be returning for a second season. Cena was also the Executive Producer for the series and requested a block of time off from WWE in order to work on the show's debut season.
Cena took several months off WWE towards the end of 2015 in order to host the military-themed series, which saw competitors take on different obstacles under the tutelage of United States military heroes. So, at some point, Cena will be taking an additional block of time off.
It was actually a very good series and Cena was excellent in his role, although the series' ratings were considered soft.
Nah, he usually only loses summerslam if the WWE title is on the line to make the champion look more credible by feuding with Cena. This time he is just going against AJ styles with no stakes. He should win so he looks good for a Wrestlemania program.
I think he'll put Styles over at SummerSlam and then Styles fueds with Ambrose.
Not sure if I'm alone in this but over the last few weeks I've noticed that Cena just seems bored with wrestling or at least his heart is not as much in it as it was before. Noticed this too on his latest interview with Cole, there is something missing that was there before. I can see why he would cut down the house show dates.
Cena is clearly on his way out and I don't necessarily see that as a bad thing.
WWE shot themselves in the foot not building a second star to take over Cena (though they tried with Reigns and failed), and even though it's not the right time for Cena to step down, I'm pretty damned sure the guy is sick to death of playing the same character over and over again for nearly 8 years. And then shot themselves in the foot for not letting Cena who's a very smart guy when it comes to wrestling characters not evolve his character at all.
He's been pining for a character change and honestly speaking I think despite all his superman booking, Cena is probably the most restricted superstar in the WWE.
This is good for Cena in the sense that hes escaping a sinking ship led by a senile old asshole Captain (Vince) but this bad for SmackDown because they dont have as hefty of a Roster as RAW, and Cena is the biggest star in WWE right now and hes on SmackDown so that helps it quite a bit.
It's incredibly obvious that John is bored lol. The fire that was there isn't burning anywhere near as bright anymore and he's been going through the motions since after his first match with AJ at MITB. It's clear that he's slowly transitioning away from WWE and is interested in other ventures in show business. Really makes the decision to load up RAW look even more asinine than it already does and makes those that claimed SD "won" the draft because they got Cena look ridiculous but what's done is done.
Huge opportunity for Ambrose, Wyatt and AJ, who will be tasked with carrying the show. I fully expect Dean himself to get the superman booking on SD given Vince knows John is on his way out and needs to sell house show tickets. It's a blessing in disguise for those three but it's a steep hill to climb.
He's moving away from wrestling in my opinion. I also know how people feel about guys like Cena putting over the younger guys, but if I'm a 15 time world champ then I'm really not wanting to end my career like that. Right now the wwe isn't doing anything with him except making other guys look credible and it's gotta be boring for him. Not to mention that the whole direction and future of the company is unknown due to putting on incredibly bad shows. I'd be gone too.
The man should break the world title record and call it. He can take that boost to Hollywood and prosper.
Cena will still be around for big shows and most ppvs. Hes been the greatest asset and a true rock for WWE post 2001. I can't see anyone else filling his role especially Orton. But he has been the main staor of the WWE as long or longer than Hogan was (but with much, much. much less success).
Did you guys not watched his sit down itw or do you just like trolling? He's not bored with WWE, it also doesn't mean he's leaving a sinking ship. His role now is to be an ambassador for SD and wwe, he wants to bring the eyes watching his reality show; the teen choice award etc to SD. He's actually pretty excited about the whole brand split.
Cena can take all the time off he wants. I just don't want him bringing up in promos that he's always there.
