Corbin especially looked like he belonged in the main event with those other top guys. These two weren't doing that well since their call up but the brand split will be a great thing for them. They both have a big future.
They're both talented performers, but they really do need to have significant story arcs to get them over properly. As it stands right now, they're kinda just two guys from NXT.
If the writers can cobble together a couple of stories worth telling, then Corbin and Crews will definitely have a legit shot at hitting main event status.
Corbin has the it factor and I'm surprised they're not doing more with him. So much untapped potential there.
Haven't watched Crews for a long time. Has he gotten his facial expressions under control?
Meh didn't see it. The match was built around giving them time on their own for a large proportion of the middle match yet the crowd didn't give a single fuck
Its not their fault as both should be getting built up on nxt not dying on their feet on main roster because they are nowhere near ready to be presented as upper midcarders on main rosters that are at the same level as cena, Wyatt and styles
I agree with this, especially in triple threat matches. The guy that's on the outside the longest is most likely going to be the one to win. It's a tired formula.
A good thing about the lack of depth on the roster is that it provides opportunities for people like Apollo and Corbin. They will get showcased more and they will get more time on shows. That is great for Apollo and Corbin because they got lost in the mix early in their call-ups and now there is less people in the mix so it's likely that it won't happen again.
They looked really good even if John Cena not being able to pick up Baron Corbin looked stupid, it's not like he was Big Show but he looked really tall compared to everyone else.
But I'm really hoping for Corbin to get a good push, now it's a good opportunity for him, especially since he will probably be the " monster heel " outside of Bray Wyatt with no Big Show, Strowman, Rusev so he could make a really good impact. Just him being a jerk to Bryan and mocking him could be really funny
Corbin just seems to have something that hasn't all the way came out yet. I can't put my finger on it but it seems like he is holding back on the personality a little, like it's there he just hasn't let it escape all the way yet. When he does, I think we could have a huge star on our hands. I see Crews being a great IC champ that could make it meaningful but that's all I'm really getting from him.
I was a huge critic of Crews, especially when he came out with that shit eating grin plastered across his face completely no-selling a backstage beatdown he'd suffered not half an hour beforehand. He's getting better and looked good tonight, although he still is pretty bland.
Corbin definitely has so much potential, and to be honest unlike a lot of others I don't really think there's a whole lot wrong with his ring work. He's about as good as he really needs to be for a monster heel. I can see him getting a good push quite soon.
I liked Corbin before and I hated Crews before. The main event did nothing to change my mind.
I have high hopes for Baron. He's got the looks, cool entrance and a pretty cool moveset. My only gripe is his physique. He looks quite skinny compared to some other guys and this might be a problem. I would love to see him feud with Orton, though.
Apollo on the other hand sucks. He's kinda like Ryback. No charisma, no mic skills. He has some fancy moves, but nothing like Neville. I'm not familiar with his NXT work, but what I've seen so far hasn't impressed me one bit.
I like both performers but I think Baron Corbin is more of a main, WWE Champion scene kind of guy. Apollo Crews looks like a mid card IC title kind of guy. I'm excited to see what both of them bring to the SDL brand.
Corbin could be a big time heel. He'd honestly be a good candidate to join the SD version of the Club if they decide to go that route. It will give him direction while making him a part of the main event feud, which is what AJ will usually be a part of. Build him up for a while and when it's time to make AJ a babyface again, you can have him do the job and put Corbin over.
Smackdown has a strong main event scene but these are two of the guys they need to groom for the future to get the most out of this show. Or at least this year because I’m sure they’ll do another draft next year to switch guys and freshen things up.
Both with a lot of talent but they need to have a reason to fight people to go any farther.
Back in NXT, I thought Corbin had a look, like Undertaker's aura. I'm not saying the exact same gimmick as Undertaker, but in the same category.
He kept his keyfabe on camera as this cool bad-ass, aka lone wolf. I fucking loved it. While 40 year olds dance with no way jose, blow bubbles with Adam Rose, and hug each other with Bayley, I'm digging the dude who would smack your face in for looking at him the wrong way.
Corbin is just a beast.
Clear cut character. Awesome entrance. Finisher looks devastating and impactful. I can see him being a world champion down the road.
Apollo Crews I'm not sure about. He's got a hype as fuck theme song that could easily awaken a crowd but it's not there yet. Just needs some more character development. Sorry but the whole I'm a nice guy, happy to be here and want to do things the right way, like Sami Zayn will not get you over.
I don't want Crews in the main event until he gets a character. Smiling and being happy to be there is not a character nor is it entertaining. Cesaro has a better personality than this creep. Corbin, on the other hand, I see being in the main event. He just needs to work on his promos some more. I can't put my finger on it, but something is just not clicking in his promos. I like his idgaf attitude though.
At the risk of sounding cliche, if Crews could discover a character and some personality, he'd make a great heel. Male him the Floyd Mayweather of the company. Super talented, standoffish, arrogant black male that's flashy, brags about how wonderful he is, and actually manages to steal huge victories. Let him keep that edge when he turns face, because overtime, he's too talented in the ring for fans to continue hating him. I think he's going to need that first in order to get over proper as a main event babyface down the line.
Triple H will have them pushed to the moon. I'm just glad they put Corbin and Roman on different shoes.
