Default SmackDown was always PG?

I read very often that SmackDown was always PG (someone mentioning it today again in the other thread was the reason for this thread).
People criticize the current WWE for being too soft, too limited because of the PG rating and how WWE would be better without this rating. Then some people reply how SmackDown was always PG and they still had entertaining shows.
Well there were some moments in SmackDown history where I can't believe that it was TV PG.
Some examples

sorry, couldnt find the whole match but A-Train destroyed Stephanie, a woman, in this match and after Vince & Sable kissed

Is this PG? I don't live in the United States and know the meaning of PG and what is allowed only from wikipedia and other sites but it's hard to believe when WWE claims that SmackDown was always PG when you watch these videos and numerous other examples.

Is this "SmackDown was always PG" only a WWE propaganda or is this really PG?

I'm beginning to think that the PG rating isn't the reason for the poor storylines and lack of violence but it is infact down to the restrictions put in place and the fact that the world has gone mental with the overly protective politically correct bullshit.

Let's just back all the ladies wrestling in their underpants in mash potatoes! And storylines demeaning to minorities and gays! And stupid stunts that achieve nothing but legitimately injuring guys to meet the blood quota! That'll draw in the adult audience!

It always was PG and it still is. There hasn't been a lot of change or anything like that. Its just nostalgia. Even to this day in the PG era, we do have attacks similar to Bork beating 1 legged man. For instance, look at Bearer being thrown down by Kane from the top floor and Randy being thrown down by Barrett through a staircase. We still have sexual/adult innuendos similar to Show referring to the Kobe Bryant incident during a rap, take Kane's "balls" for a recent instance. Although we dont get naked ladies anymore, we still get some adult jokes, we still get some brutal action. The only difference we see today is that its toned down just a little because of Linda's campaign.

In other words we can have in the current WWE a Eve & Layla lesbian storyline, Ryback attacking a diva or Kane setting people on fire. That means we can also have half naked divas if they want
I also believe that nostalgia plays a big role but I am also confused because I don't see any difference between some SmackDown segments and Attitude Era segments or more precisely between TV-PG and TV-14 because it can't get more extreme in a wrestling show for me than a monster busting open a skinny one-legged man and destroying him in front of his mother and that was PG.
Also confusing is when WWE made all of their shows PG 4 years ago and Jerry Lawler was not allowed to say puppies anymore and the superstars were not allowed to curse (especially during 2009/10) when the superstars cursed all the time on SmackDown.
Also some John Cena promos when he said ass or other insults and then said "I apologize because it's PG" but he said things that were even worse on SmackDown during the Doctor of Thuganomics era.
