Default Orton vs Cesaro?

Here me out this first. Granted Orton is a top notch star, but he is also a hell of a worker. I don't believe he has ever won the United States title, and I wouldn't mind him in a solid feud with Cesaro over the title. Perhaps it starts out with Orton scouting Cesaro during his matches. The same goes for Orton during his matches, with Cesaro scouting him. They both play a bit of cat, and mouse. I don't agree to just throwing them in to a feud, or match. There needs to be a solid build, with the viewer left to raise questions, and perhaps follow a story. Maybe throw in a little flirtation with Randy, and Aksana. This makes the viewer start to assume what's next.

Have a backstage segment with Antonio explaining to Aksana that he sees the way she looks at Randy, and it doesn't bother him because he knows he is superior to Randy. At some point both men cross paths backstage, and end up in a stare down. Aksana gets between both of them, and looks like she is having the time of her life. She thinks this is all over her, and she will soon find out that it's really not. Eventually Orton ends up exchanging words with Antonio on the mic, and in the ring. Randy tells Cesaro that the United States title belongs around his waist, and it's a shame that Antonio somehow got his hands on it.

Antonio tells Orton that he is something that Orton never has been, and that's The United States Champion. Antonio goes on to say that he has held various titles in countries, and none more dominant than the United States, and it's only true title, The US title. Cesaro says that it's a shame how American born stars are hardly concerned with their very own Nation's wrestling title. Antonio says that CM Punk may be "The Best In The World", but he, Antonio Cesaro is the best in the only country that matters, and that is The United States. A bit of a twist hearing this come from a foreign born star. However, it helps establish a more sophisticated star that isn't a cheap stereotype anti-American.

Cesaro explains to Orton that he doesn't just get a title shot, and should he receive one he certainly thinks he'll have to prove himself for it. Randy tells Antonio to go ahead, and pick his opponent. Antonio laughs, and tells Orton he'll need to pick his own over the next three weeks. Cesaro says he wants to see who Randy thinks is worthy of facing him(Randy Orton)for the United States title shot. Randy laughs, and says sarcastically I will have no problem picking my opponents. Obviously Orton goes, and gets the easiest set of opponents he could have. After all Antonio left it up to Randy.

The first week should be Orton vs Hunico. Cesaro tells Orton that his first opponent was an easy win, and he would have done it in half the time. That sets up the match between Hunico vs Cesaro a week later with Cesaro winning in under 30 seconds. He nails Hunico with the "Swiss Death", and thus proves to Orton that he is currently better than him. The second opponent for Randy is Heath Slater. Good match with Slater selling like the best of them, but Orton wins. Cesaro once again tells Orton that Slater was hardly an upgrade from Hunico, but nonetheless he says he will still one up Randy. Cesaro request from Booker T a handicap match? Cesaro vs Slater, and a partner of his choice.

It's Cesaro vs Slater, and his tag team partner is Hunico. Hunico, and Slater seem to be having difficulties understanding one another, and this leads to Slater coming off as rude to him. Half way through the match Slater is left by Hunico, and Camacho. This gives Cesaro the advantage with a vulnerable, and unexpected Slater who is then finished off. Once again Cesaro out does Orton by winning a 2 vs 1 Handicap Match. The final opponent that Randy picks for himself isn't picked by Randy. Instead Booker T steps in, and announces that Orton will face Damien Sandow. The winner will face Cesaro.

The other part to this story is Sandow. He protest his match vs Orton because he does not want to represent these deplorable individuals that call themselves Americans. Sandow says that the United States is a tainted title, and until he has the masses subjected, and pleased by his intellectual being then will he only allow for such a new respected title be worn around his waist. This puts Sandow in an obvious situation to lose, but with his very own brilliant explanation as to why. Damien swears not to give Orton the win, and says that he is a man of more integrity than that, but his desires don't include The United States title.

At the beginning of their match Sandow tries to use diplomacy to win Orton over, and Randy just hits him with the RKO. From there we have Orton set to take on Cesaro at the following PPV. Orton gets the win, after Aksana inadvertently gets involved, distracting Antonio long enough for Orton to score the RKO for the second time on Antonio (yes Antonio kicks out of the 1st RKO). Having Antonio kick out of the first RKO is crucial because it can be explained. Perhaps Orton hit it to early, and Cesaro being the "Superior" star kicks out. It adds to the character of Antonio Cesaro. Whenever you kick out of a well known star finisher, like Orton, and his RKO it's sends a clear message.

One would think that at the end of the match Antonio would be upset with Aksana, but he isn't. He is actually more concerned with her, and the bump she takes during the match. During the match she gets on the apron while Randy is undoing a turnbuckle. She is trying to warn the ref. In only ways the WWE can do she is launched off of the ringside apron. Causing the distraction from Cesaro, and his title. It would later be explained that Cesaro has no reason to be ashamed because Orton had to defeat him while he was worried about the well being of another person while Randy could care less, and took the opportunity to steal a victory.

This leads to their re-match that ends up being No-Disqualification. During this process the same routine goes down with the two men scouting one another. This time Randy tells Cesaro that if he really thinks he has it, then he wants Cesaro to take on the opponents of Randy's choosing. Cesaro laughs, and tells Orton that this exactly the type of individual Randy is. Antonio tries to convince the crowd that Randy is the true coward. Cesaro says he will defeat them, and humiliate Orton because no matter what he still receives a title shot.

During their feud somehow Sandow gets involved, and claims that Orton illegal hit him with the RKO, and caused temporary, but yet painful injuries sustained in neck. Obviously Sandow would explain the very essentials of his injury live on Raw, and then show the footage of his match with Orton in which he hits Damien with the RKO officially before the match started. Damien says that this is automatically a disqualification. Sandow states that this makes him the #1 contender to Orton's United States title. However, Damien explains that because he wants no part with this title, and that he along with the equally brilliant minded Cesaro have agreed that Cesaro would take back what is rightfully his, and Randy is on record to have losing his first every match with Damien Sandow, "You're Welcome".

Throwing Sandow in to the mix will explain how Cesaro gets his United States title back. Orton announces to Cesaro that his first opponent tonight will be Cesaro vs Sin Cara. Randy tells Antonio good luck figuring out that guy. Sort of a "pun" from Randy Orton in regards to Sin Cara botching all the time. Antonio responds directly back to Orton by telling him that he, and Sin Cara will have a 5 star match with Sin Cara taking the loss. Before his match with Sin Cara, with Randy at ringside, Cesaro hands Orton a tablet, a pen, and then tells him to take notes. Crowd pops big time from this, and they boo Cesaro.

Antonio defeats Sin Cara, and wrestles a five star match. Sin Cara comes to nearly pinning Cesaro on several occasions, with Randy even getting on the Sin Cara bandwagon. However, Cesaro gets the best of him, but notices the flirting of Orton, and Aksana again. Entering the flirtation of both Aksana, and Orton keeps some dynamic involved, and adds some personal flare. Randy Orton is about playing mind games, and I think even as a "face" he can still have that role about him. Randy reminds Cesaro that next week he will certainly have a bigger challenge ahead of him.

Next week comes along, and once again Sandow is on out televisions with a neck brace. Sandow entertains us all by informing us that once he is fully recovered from his neck injury sustained by the hands of Randy Orton he will assert his revenge. Damien says that what Orton did was beyond despicable, and yet the fans welcome him, and praise him? Booker T interrupts, and tells Sandow to cut it short. We come back, and Orton is sitting ring side ready for Cesaro to come out. Once Cesaro hits the ring his opponent is announced. Out comes Justin Gabriel. Back, and forth match with Cesaro getting the win with the Ricola Bomb. Cesaro smiles at Orton, and waves good bye as he leaves with Aksana.

Orton's final opponent for Cesaro is announced by in the beginning of the following weeks Smackdown, and it's Alex Riley. Cesaro laughs it off, and tells Orton that his will be the easiest of all the challenges yet. Riley hears this, and takes exception to what Cesaro says. It doesn't matter because before their match Cesaro knocks Riley out backstage with Aksana standing over Riley laughing, and Cesaro shaking his head with shame. He leans over, and whispers in to an unconscious Riley, and tells him that he is an unfortunate result of two angry individuals. He tells Riley to bring his "A" game.

Antonio gets the easy win, but in the process Riley looks like a fighter who wants the win more than ever. Just to add some salt in the wound Cesaro gives Riley the "The Big Swing" at the end. It's a move that has been done by him before, and I think it would be a great way to taunt Randy at the end of the match. Granted it's not a very devastating maneuver, but it adds salt to the wound. Cesaro points to his waist to let Randy know that he is going to be the next United States Champion. Aksana is still giving Orton the look, and he gives it right back. The next PPV both men square off for the United States title.

I would Cesaro kick out of the RKO at least once in this match, or have Randy hit the RKO on Cesaro too close to the ropes, and Cesaro is able to have his foot not on the ropes, but under the ropes for the referee to stop the count. Maybe even revere the DDT from the second rope as well. You have to allow Cesaro to be a step ahead of Randy in this match. Halfway through the match Damien Sandow sits ringside, and does color commentary. Throughout the match Aksana makes several passes at Orton. Randy points them out to Cesaro, and makes the viewer think that this be Antonio's downfall.

Little does Orton know that Aksana is actually playing him, and working mind games of her own. She distracts the referee long enough so that Sandow can hit Orton with his finisher, and allow Antonio to score the victory. Sandow takes his neck brace off, and reveals to the world that he is ok. Cesaro walks off with his United States title, and Aksana who before she leaves kicks Orton in the groin. This should be her signature thing at the end of every Cesaro match where she kicks the defeated opponent in the groin while they are already down. It would add to her character, and show her bad side.

Several things from this come about. A new feud with Sandow, and Orton on the horizon, and that depends on whether Randy is filming a movie soon. If he is then having Damien injure Randy would be the best option, and then claiming responsibility for it would certainly help Sandow's cause. Also, a step down from Randy, but still a reliable feud with Riley, and Cesaro in which Cesaro comes out on top with Riley failing to defeat Cesaro for his United States title. Added stipulation would be that Riley has to leave Smackdown should he lose to Cesaro, and Riley unfortunately agrees. Cesaro "Reigns Supreme" thus becomes Antonio's slogan after he rids Smackdown of Alex Riley.

Oh you didn't read it? Don't post in the thread then.

Orton/Cesaro singles match would own, but it would take quite a bit to ever put them in a feud together. Would love it though.

I think Orton is too past the US Championship at this point. With that said, a match between the two would probably be great.

For your post, I have to say tl;dr. Sorry.

I would like to see Orton move down there, tbh. He's not doing anything up at the top so to have him in the US title scene would make the title look great, rather than devalue him, imo.

That actually isn't that bad of an idea. Hopefully in the future, we can have that kind of feud. The only problem is the US belt is damaged goods at this point. Orton having to "prove" himself for a belt with no meaning doesn't make sense, even if he never won it before. Kayfabe wise, he's above it. It would be a perfect slot for someone like a Ryback, Ryder, etc.
If it was the WHC, it would be a perfect program to get Cesaro over.

Should have done that last year in the Rhodes feud for the IC title...

It would be a great match but I don't see why Orton would want the US title all of a sudden. He's above that now. I'd be all for a Cesaro/Orton feud but not about the US title.

Default Re: Orton vs Cesaro?

You all keep mentioning that Orton is above the US title, but I don't see the point in saying that. This is professional wrestling, and all the titles mean nothing because the show is scripted. You can think that the belt means something, but if they did then only the stars that matter would hold them. That means the only WWE champion should be John Cena, and the WHC should be Rey Mysterio, or someone like Orton. It's supposed to be about "competition", and when you are a competitive person you want to dominate.

Orton has never been United States Champion, and that's something for Cesaro to use against him. I already explained how Cesaro could leverage the idea that the United States title is the only title that matters because it's Champion of the United States, the most powerful nation on the planet. If Randy is the competitor that as a "face" he should be, then those are words he doesn't want to hear. If there is a reason why, or how someone the caliber of Randy Orton challenges for a "lesser" title then so be it the reason. Cesaro could easily tell Orton that titles equal success, and right now Orton isn't looking to successful without a title around his waist.

It's no secret Orton isn't in the running for a WHC anyhow. That's the problem with professional wrestling. You all get tired of the same old stars in the hunt, then when they are placed in a different title situation that isn't the World title, or WWE title it's below them. Fans are way to fickle, and no title is below anyone, it's more of how the title is presented, and represented as well. This is no different that a NFC team winning their division, or even the Conference title. No, it's not the big one, but it's certainly better than nothing. That way once a star like Orton drops the United States title, and goes for the WHC it makes sense. The best part is that not everyone who holds the US title can just move on, so this makes a clear distinction as to who is ready, and who isn't. It also makes the US title seem more legit since it's the last stone before the big leap, for some of the stars. The fact that he has never won the title makes it more intriguing for him to feud over the title.
