1. You don't have to watch Smackdown to follow storylines anymore, as it's been this way for awhile. And if anything important would happen on Smackdown, you'd see it recapped the following Monday anyway.
2. Why would anyone waste their Friday Evening in front of their television when you can read what happened at the tapings on Tuesday evenings?
It has nothing to do with watching Smackdown either. They said this is to do with poor attendances
. I'm not from the US and I don't really keep much of a track of how often the shows are in certain cities. How often do you get Raw and Smackdown in one city per year? Once each?
The live events are way more fun than just watching it on TV (I'm told.. haven't been to one). Generally the audience they are going for is parents taking their kids to the show. Does a 10 year old kid really look at the card for a house show and ask their parents to take him ONLY because Cena is on the card? I'm not buying it.
Times are tough, taking your family to a house show is going to run to over $100 with tickets, gas, drinks, some merchandise... I don't think people can afford it as much anymore. If you get both shows coming to your city once a year, of course you are going to try to go to the show that the company bills as the main show since there will be more stars, it's longer so should, in theory, be better.
