Loved Edge v Undertaker. Loved it to shit. I love that when it was all said and done, the feud ended up arcing for over a year. Loved the match as an ending to Wrestlemania XXIV (which is a wonderful PPV top to bottom.) Edge/Taker HIAC is a top three cell match for me as well.

2002 was okay until Lesnar rybotched it all.

2003 was a period of influx. It was... okay.

20009 was epic.

SD in 09 started to go to shit after the summer when Taker returned. The midcard went to the dogs when the Chosen One was constantly shoved down our throats. SD midcard scene was just great back in 2009. Great matches every week featuring the likes of Ziggler, Morrisson, Mysterio, Knox and Finlay. The thing I liked about SD 09 (just like '02 and '03) is that it wasn't just main event guys vs main event guys. They mixed things up as well. Edge vs Morrisson is a match that really made Morrisson stood out.

But once the Chosen One arrived and he got the IC title handled to him on a silver platter that was it. The division and the title was killed. Jericho and Mysterio really did a hell of a job reviving the title. It was the number 2 title behind the WHC not just on paper but in reality. It felt like it was an important title. Ziggler/Rey did what they did during the summer to continue that established credibility and then bam! McIntyre's handed it and does absolutely nothing afterwards. Maybe if McIntyre was a big star today, I couldn't have mind but to think that they fucked up a good thing to put over a guy who is today irrelevant just sucks really.

As for the main event scene, do i really need to explain Taker taking a page out of The Game's book?

I think the office (i.e. McMahon/creative) wanted Taker to have one last run with the belt while his body was up for somewhat of a full time schedule which it did being his last "full time" run. I put that in quotes because Taker was working more shows during that period but on occasion those matches had to be kept to like 10 minutes to conserve his conditioning. So they weren't concerned with Punk's reign or position on the card. Also, if you believe the rumors about Taker & Punk having words over a dress code/attitude then Punk dropping the belt was in a way to put him in his place.

I think 2005 and 2006 are mad underrated for Smackdown. The roster was filled with quality wrestlers.

If you look at Smackdown in 2002 all the way till 2004, it was all just Brock Lesnar. I felt then how guys feel about Cena now. Just fucking lose already! Then came Batista, I loved Batista, simply because his early stories on SmackDown were so inspired by Eddie. But that didn't make 2005 or 2006 better than 2008. The only SmackDown year arguably better was 2009, and that too, only before Taker came back. I mean, while the quality of 2008s story did water down to hell after Summerslam, with the Big Show and Taker storyline and Jeff Hardy and HHH, the matches were still spectacular.

I've been looking for a best of 2008 DVD or something of the sort? Anybody know where to find one?

2008 was a mixed bag. I enjoyed the Palumbo "storyline", The Brian Kendrick and they had some quality wrestling and "starpower" but the way they jobbed out MVP in the fall pissed me off and the show at times was boring. And don't forget that stupid theme song If You Rock Like Me smh. Got better late in the year with HHH no longer the champ.

That was during the time SmackDown could still be considered the A Brand, now it's like ECW 2008-2010.

That was in 2007, with the Rumble win.

I tend to agree with the other poster, Smackdown 2009 was the hottest show until Taker returned and completely ruined it. He buried Punk over a ridiculous dress code issue and took the title off him. It was terrible because Punk/hardy was hot on PPV but Taker as champion couldn't even draw (not that he was much of a draw other than streak matches).

I think that was the idea but that run got cut short after a month because Taker got injured again. They got almost a 5 month reign in the 2009-2010 run which might be what they initially wanted to do before.
