And he does that all throughout a match whenever he's getting ready to do a move.

I like the way he works matches and sells as a babyface. As a heel, something was always off, even when he was putting on terrific matches with the likes of Yoshi Tatsu, Tommy Dreamer and most especially Christian. (I'll always consider that lengthy match he had with Christian as his rising to a new level as an in-ring worker.) Some of Ryder's work lately has really done a lot to put some heels over, like Cesaro at Night of Champions and Barrett this week. Moreover, Ryder remains sufficiently popular with the audience, he doesn't get too damaged by simply losing matches to upper midcard heels.

When Cesaro hit Swiss Death on Ryder it looked like it killed him, same with Barrett's finisher.

I feel like a heel turn, and new look is exactly what is needed from Zack Ryder. Maybe even reunited with Curt Hawkins, and reform a tag team not called the Major Bros. Perhaps something along the lines of "New York's Most Wanted" since they are both from New York, and New York is a popular professional wrestling state in general. MSG is the mecca of wrestling, as well as many other cities such as Long Island, Buffalo, and many other sites as well.

He has had the same position as Riley did last year. Given the push, got over. Got forgotten by WWE, remained over with the crowd. Ryder is a good in-ring talent as seen in his matches with Barrett and Cesaro. He has some charisma and I wouldn't mind a IC/US title but there are guys that are in front of him in that line.

I want to see him reunited with Curt Hawkins, but I think Hawkins should turn face instead, as I think he needs the change more than Ryder does. We've seen Ryder as a heel for most of his WWE run, but haven't seen Hawkins as a face since the two of them debuted on ECW. Hawkins & Ryder could be the faces of the tag division once all the uppercard mash up teams split up. Give them a matching color scheme, but otherwise keep them both as they are, Hawkins with his leather jacket and pimp cane, and Ryder with all his frills. Push them as an off color comedy team that makes the 13-30 crowd laugh while their moderately good looks can appeal to the women, teenage girls, and gay guys.
