Funkadactyls go with Woods and Truth, monster heel turn for both Tensai and Clay would be the absolute best direction for this to go. I think Brodus will heel solo, mini feud with Tensai, and the latter retire though. Tensai has been trying his hand at commentating in NXT the last little bit, I think he might look to do that going forward.
The reason for this is because they have pay someone to co-ordinate debuts from NXT and make sure guys aren't just thrown onto the roster and left directionless. Which is why we've seen The Shield, Wyatt Family, Big E and Summer Rae all debut with storylines/characters that have allowed them to establish themselves in their own way. Woods is being debuted as an undercard talent, so the result is that we get an undercard storyline that has actually had some thought put into it.
The problem comes when the initial storylines are over and the talent starts to be handled by the regular creative team.
This is most likely the case but that doesn't mean it always has to be this way. This story took up 5 minutes on smackdown but was one of the more memorable spots. Creative need to see that putting effort into the lower card is what turns a lackluster episode into a quality one we can get invested in.
Currently we've got a mini feud between the rookie Xavier Woods and Funkasaurus Brodus Clay. Now neither of these guys are relevant in any title scene. One guy is your classic fat guy wrestler and the other we haven't seen much of but clearly isn't being pushed as main event talent. So what can these guys do? Have pointless comedy matches? Usually that'd be the case. Instead creative have actually got off their collective arse and given them something substantial.
- On Raw Woods borrows the Funkadactyls for his entrance.
- On Smackdown Brodus gets angry that Woods is stealing his girls. Tons of Funk get a match against Truth and Woods where Brodus is fighting really aggressively in an otherwise friendly bout. Tensai and the Funkadactyls barely celebrate the win cos they're shocked at Brodus' ruthlessness.
Now they have plenty of ways they can go.
- Tons of Funk could break up
- Funkadactyls could move to Truth and Woods
- The teams could fight over the services of the Funkadactyls
- Brodus heel turn
- Woods or Truth heel turn
This feud will take very little time and the time would otherwise be spent in stupid comedy matches without plot anyway. I think it's great we have a lower card feud happening that actually has some substance to it. Please WWE bring on more of it. No more pointless comedy matches.
I came up with this idea several months ago, and more recently in a thread on Xavier Woods about 10 days or so ago. Good to see that someone is reading my work. This isn't the first time either.
