Re: Vince Russo: Why The Casual Fans Have Stopped Watching Wrestling

Professional wrestling is a niche audience even during boom periods. UFC akin to another real combat sport like boxing has always been treated as a mainstream competition especially since it is...

Re: Vince Russo: Why The Casual Fans Have Stopped Watching Wrestling

I grew up watching the NWA. The NWA was known for more of a serious technical style at times. However, the NWA still drew mega interest because the wrestlers themselves had characters that the...

Re: King Kong Bundy: Bret Hart and Shawn Micheals as champions lead to the downfall

As someone has already alluded to Bundy was not a jobber. I think he made a superb point at how every wrestler today basically looks the same.

Re: I would love to never see Hulk Hogan on my TV ever again

Hulk Hogan is the biggest star all time in the history of North American wrestling history. He has earned the right to every once in awhile make an appearance. Yes, I would agree with some that his...

Re: Best Superkick

That is exactly right. Chris Adams was the first to make the superkick popular and not Shawn Michaels. Plus, Adams superkick was better than Shawn Michaels was.

Re: Top 10 best wrestlers of all time - unbiased

If the OP is basically asking who has the biggest lasting impact in American wrestling history then it is:

1. Hulk Hogan
2. Gorgeous George
3. Lou Thesz
4. Ric Flair
5. Andre the Giant
6....

Re: Perspective on WWE Pay

Professional wrestling is not an institution that has ever been known to pay well especially for the non stars. One could argue though that even lower card wrestlers today still make out many times...

Re: Perspective on WWE Pay

A wrestler can make a good living a year off of 100,000 if they budget their money wisely and spend wisely. That is a lot of disposable income left especially relative to the average working family....

Re: Perspective on WWE Pay

I am wondering if some people here have a concept of the real world and wages. Let's say a wrestler is paid a 100,000 a year base salary. Let's be conservative and say a 1/3 of that covers federal...

Re: Who was the best Shiek?

My vote would go to Ed Farhat. This man is arguably the greatest heel in all time wrestling history. (At least top three all time as others have already alluded to)

However, I do honestly feel...

Re: Hall of fame

Randy Savage is already in the Professional Wrestling Hall of Fame (2009) and Rick Martel is being inducted next year into the 2015 Professional Wrestling Hall of Fame class.

It should be evident...

Re: Why do female wrestlers get paid less than Men?

This may not sound politically correct but if the WWE were to totally discontinue women's wrestling then the show still goes on. In other words women's wrestling is not a necessity. It is only a...

Re: Rank these mic workers

Quite frankly mic skills of the last 10-15 years have been relegated to cliches or cheap crude jokes and childish put downs and "smarkish" rhetoric. In a sense the mic skills have not really lifted...

Re: WWE Production Values Collapse in mid 90s

I remember during the height of WCW Nitro winning the ratings how Nitro would be in 17,000-20,000 seat sold out arenas whereas many times Raw seemed to be in 10,000 seat arenas with many empty seats....

Re: Do you think its unfair that the WWE doesn't pay for the midcards and lower cards

The thing is that a lot of it probably depends on the verbage in the contract. From an ethical and moral standpoint I agree with you that the company should compensate for the injury. However, one...

Re: Brock Lesnar: Most Overrated of All Time?

Back in the NWA days titles may have changed hands several times a year at most. So when a title did change hands it was a monumental and exciting deal. The difference is that the champions still...

Re: Do you think its unfair that the WWE doesn't pay for the midcards and lower cards

They know going in that what they are getting into involves the possibility of the possible physical toll consequences on the body. Again, no one is forcing them to get involved.

This is a...

Re: Do you think its unfair that the WWE doesn't pay for the midcards and lower cards

Just because they are following their dream does not mean that promoters are obligated to pay their travel costs and hotel costs. Nobody has a legal right to expect to be catered to just because...

Re: Brock Lesnar: Most Overrated of All Time?

Good post. I think the irony is that here you have a company that preaches how they are purely sports entertainment yet they make sure that they have a champion who would be perceived as credible to...
