Re: If the internet/social media was as powerful back in 1998...

I wouldn't really consider it a burial as he was right behind Austin and Undertaker on the totem pole that year, he did get a win over both of them and won the WWE Title.

Re: Vince Russo on The Rock (not the popular youtube video)

I know, can you imagine him having another memorable title reign as a face after '99? That's why him going heel in '01 was the right decision regardless how bad the timing of it was.

Re: Vince Russo on The Rock (not the popular youtube video)

Austin only worked a couple of house shows after the Fully Loaded PPV that year, but it didn't really matter because before had to get surgery his face run was coming to an end in a few months...

Re: Stone Cold forfeiting the Intercontinental Championship

Maybe in retrospect but at the time it wasn't really that big of a deal.

Re: Sting vs. nWo or Austin vs. McMahons?

He was the champion when Nitro still had the ratings lead. Don't know what your grudge is with Sting but he was clearly a big draw in the Nitro era.

Re: Sting vs. nWo or Austin vs. McMahons?

The '98 reign he had, 0 wins against Raw.

Re: Sting vs. nWo or Austin vs. McMahons?

I must have deaf ears then because I could've swore I heard "We Want Sting" chants from the crowds constantly throughout that year, even people in NWO shirts were chanting it :lol.

Even in '98...

Re: Sting VS nwo or Austin VS McMahons?

Siam baba it's funny how you said Sting never could cut it as a top star yet most of Nitro's head to head wins were when Sting was the focus of the show. Hogan getting an unnecessary title reign when...

Re: Sting VS nwo or Austin VS McMahons?

Austin beat Goldberg numerous times head to head in '98 brah. :lmao

Goldberg/DDP did draw the highest head to head rating that year but that was because of the match being cut off PPV. Goldberg's...

Re: Sting VS nwo or Austin VS McMahons?

Austin vs. McMahon ended at Fully Loaded 1999, when Vince came back his focus was on Triple H instead of Austin.

Re: Sting VS nwo or Austin VS McMahons?

Sting being "boring" to you is an opinion. And by the way when Sting had the title in '98 WCW was still leading in the ratings by almost a full point, so Sting not being able to "hang" as champion...

Re: Sting VS nwo or Austin VS McMahons?

Austin vs. McMahon actually ended correctly. Sting being booked the way he was in '98 was one of the reasons WCW became #2 (http://www.wrestlingforum.com/usertag.php?do=list&action=hash&hash=2) ...

Re: 1997 WCW Nitro appreciation thread

Very good year for WCW.

Raw was also good that year but besides Austin, Michaels, Undertaker, and Hart Foundation they had very little depth on the undercard which is probably why Nitro was...

Re: Could HHH have carried the Attitude Era alone?

:lol at RLStern!

No one can carry a company alone, not even Austin in '98 carried the business alone. They also had another established star (Undertaker) a crooked boss opposing Austin, the hot...

Re: If WrestleMania 18 would have been Hogan vs Austin?

Pretty much what his heel character and face character in 2001-02 were. Even though his some of his 1997-01 characteristics were still present he added "What?!" in his promos and would sing in front...

Re: WWE not bringing Savage back with the NWO in 2002 was a travesty.

He wasn't in the NWO when it began which is why they probably wouldn't have brought him in at the time even if he was available.

Re: Could Raven had been top heel in WcW after the NWO?

Raven had already peaked in WCW when the Flock was broken up so it would've been too late anyway.

Re: If WrestleMania 18 would have been Hogan vs Austin?

It's called "adapting with the times", Austin was the only one entering 2001 who hadn't altered his character even a little bit since 1997 and it was time for him to adapt. It would've already...

Re: If WrestleMania 18 would have been Hogan vs Austin?

No one was getting cheered over Hogan that night, maybe in 1998-99 the fans would've sided w/Austin but definitely not in '02 when his act wasn't as fresh anymore. The fans might've booed Austin even...

Re: Name a kayfabe and a real behind-the-scenes reason why and how Randy Savage turned heel and joined the nWo at SuperBrawl VII (7) on February 1997?

Kayfabe reason-He couldn't return to WCW unless he signed an NWO contract

Real reason-DDP took his spot as one of the top WCW defenders against the NWO while he was gone so he joined the NWO to...
