So, today I legitimately forgot who the Tag Team Champs were.

Yes, it's true.

In a moment of obfuscation that would have made Teddy Long blush, I forgot who the hell was WWE Tag Champs.

I didn't just head straight to the net to find out, but when it finally came to me, I thought wow, The Shield really haven't done anything memorable at all since winning the titles.

Rather than being a 'The Shield is getting stale' thread, it's more of a 'Which pair would make the most of having the titles' thread.

Personally, I think the whole division is shot to pieces, but if it would be anyone I'd say Prime Time Players.

The Shield have been used as a plot device to keep main eventers busy for so long that it's hard to buy any midcard guys (the people who are SUPPOSED to be challenging for the titles) as a threat to them. The belts are irrelevant simply because the champions are so far above everyone else.

In an effort to book Shield stronly, the creative buried any and all talents in the tag division. Not to mention, the tag division was already in shambles. That being said, MITB Pre Show match was probably the 2nd MOTN. Both teams performed beyond expectations for me. Especially the Usos.

Kofi and R-Truth. Team Hell No's reign was good as far as what they did on the entertainment side. But as far as making other tag teams look good they really didn't do that. I would like to see The Shield drop the titles to The Usos then move into a feud against Henry and Big Show. As for The Usos they can defend the titles and start a program against The Real Americans.

You mean like EVERY belt besides the WWE title? Think about it, Ambrose, Axel, Rollins/Reigns, and Del Rio have ALL been booked weakly or irrelevantly since winning their respective belts. Or if you want to go even further, so has Sandow since MitB.

The only titles that creative consistently books with strength is the WWE title and the Raw briefcase.

I always forget who has the mid card belts. They should do away with them altogether. The WHC is what the IC title used to be anyway, when there were only three titles. It's the same belt Bret Hart fought Mr Perfect for in the 90s. The actual IC title is meaningless.

Just eliminate half the belts. Keep WWE, Intercontinental, Tag and Women's, that is all you need. The fewer titles you have to compete for, the more guys you have competing for those titles. A hot wrestler challenging for his first title, that's intriguing TV. But since there's like, 7 or 8 different titles, you have weaker wrestlers challenging for belts they have no business being involved in.

sorry maybe its you memory. The tag team division isnt the greatest i agree but Shield as tag champs should be one of the easiest things to remember. They all won championships at at Extreme Rules in a great night and havent lost the titles since. Before them it was another great team in Hell No.

There were periods in the mid to late 00s where I forgot who various champions were at all levels beneath the World Titles. Ask me to chart out who the Tag & IC Champs were from about 84 to 00 and I could probably get most of it right. Ask me to do it from 02-10 and I could give you vague descriptions of certain periods, but not much else.

That said...The Shield as Tag champions have been on TV every week and actually beat a well built team in Team Hell No to win the titles and there are teams for them to work with. Really, it is the best the tag division has been since the Attitude Era. Between then and now, it feels like we'd have one or two really good teams (MNM & WGTT for example) and then they'd have nobody to work with and they would ultimately fizzle out because, shit, what do you do with them?

At least The Shield are treated as something important, have at least a handful of teams to work with, and are showcased as meaningful champions, moreso than many of the champions since the Attitude Era.
