This is something I don't understand I never considered the likes of The Rock and Austin to be big guys during the attitude era. The big guys then were Taker, Kane, Viscera, Big Show and Rikishi.

I'm sick of overpushed untalented roidheads like Ryback going over talented WRESTLERS like Cesaro.

Re: Are you against the big guy philosophy?

Big men built this industry.

Kevin Nash was right, when Benoit and Eddie celebrated at WMXX it killed the business

Now wrestling is full of vanilla midgets the fans cannot take seriously.

We had a skinnyfat diseased looking guy hold the title for a year and ratings fell to the lowest in 15+ years.

WWE needs more big men, more monsters, to help save wrestling.

Re: Are you against the big guy philosophy?

Fundamentally I'm against it because arbitrary attributes like who you know and what you look like should have no weight in terms of deciding who's at the top and who isn't. That should go to things like talent, dedication and hard work. But it must be remembered that this is a business - show business at that. Humans are attracted to better looking people, so when you have the choice between the 5'10" not very muscular average joe looking man and the taller, more muscular and handsome man, it's a given fact that the second guy draws more eyeballs to your product.

I never thought that there was a necessity for guys to be as roided as they were in the '80s either though to be honest. You don't "look" larger than life, you are it.

If they're hired only for the sake of being big (Mason Ryan, Ezekiel Jackson), then yes, I'm against it.

Re: Are you against the big guy philosophy?

Being big isn't everything... Anyone remember Mason Ryan is still an active member of the WWE roster? How about Ezekiel Jackson?

I won't say size doesn't play a part in wrestling, but it's what you do with it that matters more than how big or small you are.

"Everything anybody ever valued or struggled for... it's all a monstrous, demented gag! So why can't you see the funny side? Why aren't you laughing?"

Re: Are you against the big guy philosophy?

Yes, it's extremely annoying to think that Undertaker's streak for instance would have been so much better if this stupid big men obsession of Vince's didn't exist. While you don't have to be huge, you should at least have a decent build and not just look like any average joe. That's what I'm not a fan of Punk's look whereas don't mind it when it comes to a guy like Chris Benoit who could do a power move even if you're extremely huge.

Re: Are you against the big guy philosophy?

Not at all. It's true that the best in-ring guys are usually small guys (AJ, Aries, Bryan), but only such ridiculously good manlets ever make it to stardom in the business, small and average talented wrestlers are usually not going to get further than big average talented guys. I have no problem with freak looking guys like Lesnar who can put on an awesomely entertaining match, ditto for Undertaker to some degree, although their approach isn't compareable.

Overall you need both bigger and smaller guys due to the different styles of wrestling. Small guys are usually too weak to pull of powermoves safely or at all, and big guys can't jump around as well as the smaller guys. I'd get bored of both quickly if there was no variation.

Marks for Austin Aries/D Bryan crew

Creams himself over Lesnars Entrance crew

Prefers watching wrestling intoxicated crew

Scott Steiner is the real GOAT crew

WF metal crew
